Thanks, just applied for the aerogold infinite. No immediate approval though, just says either will receive welcome package in 3 weeks or contact from an agent.

I was in a TD branch a few days ago and the tv screens showed the AP Infinite 25k welcome bonus. I didn't have time to ask them about it. Maybe this offer is still alive in-branch?

Quick question needing some member feedback.
I need to buy AA miles by end of week, the 200k miles sells at USD$4180. I have already place F award on hold so this should be worth it. Now, I'm debating what card to use to buy it. The currency is about CAD$5580 I have Marriott VISA so that gives 11520 Marriott points (Edit: I think the chase card will consider this as airline too, so 2x points) I also have Amazon VISA with 1% cashback, so that's CAD$55.8 rebate Alternatively, AA.com mile purchase is considered as airline purchase so AMEX Gold card will give 2x miles, but AMEX has a 2.5% conversion fee. The total will then be CAD$5760. So for CAD$180 extra I can get 11520 Aeroplan miles or BA Avios or 5760 SPG points. Thoughts on what the best method to buy? |

I think it's structured that way. I got a non-message saying I'd hear back from them in 3 weeks or in 2 days by email (if I gave them my email address, which I did). I think they are doing it that way because they want to try and sell something else to you. After applying for my CIBC biz card, someone called me and asked if I wanted to open a chequing account. And for this app, they asked for information on who had my mortgage, who I bank with. SO they're preparing the old cross-sell.

Just saying, but I wouldnt consider paying 5500CAD to buy miles for an F award a good deal by ANY stretch. You're paying a LOT and if you paid for the ticket itself you'd also get miles and status. Keep that in mind. |

Most F cash tickets I can see are 8k CAD, to 15k CAD. No amount of earned miles will pay for that. The cheaper tickets at 8k roundtrip are already ex-Dub and ex-Cairo |

Unless there is reasonable price for one way international flights purchase in cash, otherwise I think mileage ticket is still the best option? |

Yes I realized it's a lot of money too, but I've already got one way F ticketed and need to set up other segments to complete the circle.

Where exactly are you going to get F tickets for under 5k CAD? Some examples please

The cheaper tickets at 8k roundtrip are already ex-Dub and ex-Cairo YVR-TYO is 6600CAD for a RT in F on AA, just from a quick look I'm not saying it's not cheaper than an outright-booked flight, but booking a flight out-right (say, in J instead of F) gives you a lot of benefits while you collect miles to not have to purchase 200k AA miles at an unfavourable rate.

What's a typical RTW fare in Y/J/F on oneworld? I would think close to 3k per person in Y and much more in J/F. I am considering it but given the recent news of AA/AC devaluation on award and earn rates, I'm not sure if it's even worth maintaining the status.
As for one way fares, most of the affordable ones are regional in Asia and LCCs only, so status/miles is not really relevant. As for my itinerary, I've already ticketed in JL J/F from Asia to Canada Will use the 200k from Middle East to Australia then to Asia, on EY F (380) and QF/CX J Then just need to get to AUH/DXB one way from Canada at some point, but I have 10 months to worry about that using AC/AS/AA miles. Anyways, what do you value more in terms of my original question. 11k Marriott points or $55 cash back, or pay $180 for 11k Aeroplan/Avios ? |
Theoretically if I cancelled an Expedia booking on my TD First Class visa card using the $150 Expedia credit + $100 credit from 20k welcome points, would either be clawed back? I assume not.
