Best way for NZers to earn points
Can anyone recommend credit card programs or other ways for NZers to earn airpoints?
There seems to be so many ways for Americans to get a massive amount of points and I'd like to do the same but I'm in New Zealand.
Any ideas?

Thanks! The only thing is I can't find any schemes that allow for massive accrual of airpoints in NZ.
I flew a fair amount with Air NZ last year and all I ended up with was enough points for a one-way domestic trip. Clearly, flying alone isn't going to cut it so I need to find someone of earning lots of miles with credit card usage and signups.
Anyone?

According to AirNZ's website, the Gold Amex version of this card currently has the best earning rate for Air points and Status Points: 1.5 Air points per $100 spent and 1 status point per $250 spent. $105 annual fee, though. (All $$ is in NZD). None of the offers I saw provided huge sign up bonuses, but most of them will allow you an advance of 100-200 Air points that you can use and then repay later.

Check out that table from AirNZ's website - great comparison.

Unfortunately (for you), many countries don't have credit card rewards markets that are as competitive as the US. The upside is that merchants are not ripped off by the credit card transaction fees that fund the rewards.
Several bank credit cards give points for Air New Zealand or Qantas flights (ANZ and Westpac are the main ones). American Express also has a card in New Zealand. These cards all have annual fees, so you'll have to figure out if you spend enough money at places that accept credit cards to make it worthwhile for you. If so, get the card and you may occasionally earn a free flight or two, but don't expect the types of massive sign-up bonuses and rewards that you could get in the US.

Thanks folks. What a bummer! We've been earning points in the traditional way by flying AirNZ and just the usual credit card spend for a few years and never get much out of it despite travelling all the time.
I might have to move to the US afterall!!

Be grateful you live in a beautiful country that allows you to enjoy beauty and wonder with short drives/rides/walks.
