LH are good to release F close in plus you get to use the wonderful FCT in FRA if you time your flights correctly
But that would be more expensive than buying a RT.
(TS in Canada sells tickets as oneways for a reasonable price, though, but no miles)

While there are additional charges for flying in to/out of LHR in a premium class, the BA award fuel surcharge fees are assesed on any BA metal flights, even if not to LHR.
