It would be a status challenge. From my understanding is you can still get Delta silver or gold if you don't fly enough. My only confusion is it doesn't state anything specific about US Airways status.

Like it says above, it would be a challenge, not a match with DL. You could do a challenge to Plat status. AFAIK, there is no match/challenge to Diamond regardless how many miles you fly. Sorry, don't have the link for AA.

For those doing the DL challenge, how quickly did it start? I'm booking Friday for Monday travel and just emailed them a screenshot of my UA statement.

About 2-3 business days, actually my online Medallion Status was updated prior to getting enrollment email.

I tried to get status match to BA with my Aegean Star Alliance Gold, but they replied "sorry we dont status match because this wouldn't be fair to all those who earned it."
I asked ElAl for gold status match, but they said they dont match with Aegean. They said they would match to Turkish and others.
Air Berlin would match Aegean Gold to Air Berlin Silver (which is not much with One World) for a five month period and i need at least one flight with them within the next six weeks.
Cathay Pacific wouldnt match but gave me free enrollment as a green member (lowest level) instead of the usual $50 enrollment fee.
Turkish Airlines have still not responded to my match request after 6 weeks waiting.
China Airlines would consider matching when i purchase one flight with them.
KLM and Air France wouldnt match, but every once in a while they do have a status matching campaign.
Lufthansa wouldnt match.
SAS wouldnt match with Aegean.
American Airlines would match me for a fee plus a challenge.
Hilton Honors (hotel) would match me to gold by staying with them 10 nights or 5 stays instead of the usual 20 nights or 10 stays needed to achieve gold.

I just called AA yesterday trying to match Delta status and they said the only current match they are offering (other than the published challenges) is for United 1K. It didn't apply to me, so I didn't ask, but I would assume that it's a match to Executive Platinum.

I'm curious about matching A3 *G to an equivalent in AviancaLifeMiles. Due to my current geographic position it may be a good thing to do. Also have heard that LM Avianca program is top notch.

I am DL Diamond and I need to fly more US Flights - I am wondering what my match/challenge options are? Can I match to US or AA? Would it matter if I could only match to AA and then fly US most of the time? Thanks!

To be fair, Aegean has pretty lax requirements and it definitely wouldn't be fair to other people who earned their status the hard way.

I think most knowledgeable airline people wouldn't give much weight to an Aegean "frequent flyer". Many programs, like Alaska, exclude status matches to them specifically. They'll match other programs with real thresholds though.

I consider myself a knowledgeable airline person, and I believe Aegean Miles & Bonus is the BEST star alliance program.
I have matched TK Elite, Etihad gold and China Airlines Emerald (Skyteam) with my Aegean M&B card.
All together, I am very happy about it and give my business to Aegean whenever appropriate.

I'd like to know what Aegean gets in return when someone credits their flights to the program. The only good thing about A3's program is getting lounge access when flying with *A carriers, especially domestic US fliers. Nothing amazing about being able to status match to TK's, EY's, or CI's frequent flier program unless I've been missing out on some worthwhile benefits.

Aegean gold is relatively easy to get (20000 miles), very easy to keep (one flight over 3 years).

handy of course for Skyteam lounges. But on the carrier its best benefits lounge access to first class lounges in few Asian locations especially Taipei itself. Lounges i think are better than US standards.But probably a good 1 rank lower than the best in asia.

I am TK Miles and Smiles Elite Plus member, and in December I will be flying with Malasia Airlines couple of times ( 5 return tickets within Asia ) so I want to use lounge of MH.

But I have no one world status at all, My question is , which One World airlines program match is easiest to get a lounge access for my Elite Plus card status?

Air Berlin - Topbonus.

They should give you Gold Status with no problem for a few months. That means OneWorld Sapphire status which would get you in to basically any business class lounge on your trip.

Changing UA 1K to Delta
 

Wanted to see if some of you experts can help me out. I am a long time UA guy based in Seattle with 1.5 million miles and long time 1K. I do appreciate the domestic upgrades but they are never nonstop anymore. My regular routes are Seattle to Honolulu, Guangzhou, Qingdao, and Shanghai.

My China trips are solo and HNL are with wife and son. UA gives the spouse 1K and my son sometimes gets the upgrade.

I see that Delta does not give the spouse benefit and not the Systemwide's. I have not had much luck using systemwides in the past. My biggest concern is that if I make the change they will match me to a 75k level and that I may not get upgrades nearly as often. Any experienced comments on this would be appreciated.

I'm BA Gold. I'm flying tomorrow with Air Canada and next week with United.

Will any Star Alliance airlines match my status? If so, is it possible to get it done same/next day?

Annoyed with my AA status match!

On Sept 3rd, send in all my info (UA !K) to AA for a status match(no mention of challenge) at the suggestion of one of their CSR. Within 48 hours, I noticed on my AA account that I was now EX. Plat., thought how nice and so quick. I never received any communication from AA. Since I am booked for the next few months on UA, could only manage to book a short flt on AA..... flown AA about 3 flts in 3years. Yesterday(Sept. 29th), received pgk from AA with membership card expiring Dec. 2014, the ONLY communication since applying.
Called their customer service desk and was told I had to fly 25,000 before Dec.3rd to maintain status! Never asked and was never told about the challenge match, knew something about it from FT, but was never offered or discussed, not would I accepted it!

Matched to Turkish Airlines Gold. Took a week or two. Two years of status.

Matched to Air Berlin Gold. No reservation required. 12 months of gold Status. Email sent on a Sunday and they replied within an hour (?!) and I was matched.

You are right. I am still OK with the new conditions imposed for requalification, as I normally fly to Greece and Asia twice a year.

4 flights on CI so far - I'll wave the CI card for lounge but have to credit to Flying Blue next year because I'm not going to meet their J flights requirement (unfortunately the at airport $150 J upgrade doesn't earn as a J flight). I was surprised to find I quite like flying CI, I've had great flight crew so far.

Originally I used the former, then resent to latter address. Now got reply back asking itineraries and other information pertaining to my profile which I deemed too much as per my integrity. Skip, I will look for another carrier than CI

I think all airlines will at-least ask for Itineraries if you want to status match so i think CI in Asia especially is probably still the easiest to get. CI was probably being a little too silly throwing out Emerald cards earlier in the year to people who had no intention of ever flying to Asia and hence just wanted it for skyteam elite plus lounge entry.If you sent your Itinerary and especially if you had a flight coming up with them, then you would have no problem getting matched.

That's how AA always does it. There's always a challenge component. You were in good shape because they matched you outright to start. In my opinion it's worth just booking a good mileage run to get 25k and the EVIP's. Hopefully you have the time to do it.

yeah CI is pretty good. matched to their gold status and had good experiences flying the JFK-KIX-TPE route

Got very lucky 3 years ago......EXP for entire year, flew one trip on AA. Next year bumped down to gold for a year, flew 2 flights. Was too busy getting to UA MM.

Now when I really want to change over for good....can't, no time until June. Should have waited..."live and learn". Will probably try the hard way! Happy travels
