THIS IS AN URGENT MESSAGE TO ALL FT'S

Since January 1st, it has been possible to use NW TCV's or CO Travel Certificates on EITHER CARRIER. This has not been broadcasted, but it is known to the employees. The vouchers I am referring to have a dollar value and are NOT promotional. They are issued for bumping, customer service, etc.

To verify if your voucher is usable call the OTHER CARRIER. They have a list of certs that are usable. If your agent does not know what you are talking about, ASK THE SUPERVISOR!!! If they also give you a negative answer, DONT STOP. This IS and HAS BEEN the policy...I have personally done this a NW TCV recently!!!!

Hope this news helps someone!!!

I don't know about the urgency on this, but hopefully people can benefit.

Airlines can also match other airlines coupons. So say if you have an Entertainment coupon good on Continental airlines. It may be matched by other airlines also. I have done this, though I do not know if there are any written rules about this, nor do I know if they will refuse to honor the other coupon.

I posted this with urgency because it is something that has been going on for a while but the airlines haven't bothered to publish. It is something to think about when considering whether or not you want to be bumped, for example. Knowing that the voucher is good on either NW or CO makes the offer that much better.

I guess the alliance could be a good thing after all!!!

I find this to be an interesting benefit, one not found in ANY OTHER alliance. I wonder what caused them to do this.....perhaps it was the practical realization that in trying to create a "virtual merger", many things will have to become interchangeable between the two airlines.

I hope this is just the beginning of the "luxuries" that CO/NW alliance travelers will experience, something offered by no one else.

now this seems really to be of real urgent importance - for you. Otherwise you wouldn't post it now under 5 different threads, would you? But the absence of echo seems to show that not really many of us must/want to use those vouchers on the partner carrier ...

I hope that this generous rule is, at least for you, a big advantage to the past. ENJOY!

Not many people are initially approaching the subject because it is a new concept. I mean, after all these years of airline abuse (which is still going on), I'm finally glad to see a policy that FINALLY benefits the customer. Not one of those smoke-and-mirrors things.

Besides, this was also intended to be a get-the-word out kind of postings. Just really to inform people of what is going on in terms of that polivy. I can GUARANTEE you that the majority of FT's DID NOT (and still DO NOT) know about this policy, even though it could make a difference in, for example, deciding whether or not a person might want to volunteer to be bumped.

I agree with Rudi.

I find this of minimal value.

I consider CO/NW a great alliance, but this feature just gets a big Yawn from me.

However if it floats your boat, then I'm happy for you.
