A few comments. This really belongs in "Coupon Connection" however you don't have access because you are a new member.

Also, UA/CO and US Airways are part of the same alliance. If you are flying UA/CO you can still have your miles credited to US Airways.

As for the "name change" it can not be "easily done".

Hold onto your US miles and play Grand Slam 12 (assuming it happens again).

This is not something you can do easily. It is very costly to move points from an airline program to another. To move them to another person's USAir account will involve a fee, probably a fairly stiff one compared to their value. You might be able to move them to a hotel or other type program, but your conversion rate will usually be poor.

Most people who trade things are trading things that can easily be transferred. You probably cannot view the coupon connection board (it is limited to members with a certain duration of membership and minimum number of posts) but people are mostly trading things that are transferrable under program rules, like upgrade certificates and elite status that is giftable under program rules. Some credit card programs like Amex and Chase allow you to put points in other people's accounts with little or no fee.

Your best bet is to get to at least 25,000 points, at which point you can get an award ticket, and advertise it on Craigslist. Keep in mind that by selling an award you are violating USAir program rules, and as such you should definitely not do it on Flyertalk; it would violate the T&C of this site.

I can't think of anything else constructive you can really do. Trading air miles already in your account is quite inefficient.

Why do you not want them? Why do you want United miles?

What is with people not liking US Air miles? I love them, I just wish I had more of them.

For more good information on why USair miles and United miles can't be transferred but can be used for each other look here:
