OMNI: I did not know the expression "Run of the House" meant whatever hotel room they throw at you.

I knew when my aunt went away she said I had "the run of the house." Which I thought meant I can do whatever I want, within reason.

I never tested what was beyond reason (Wild Parties, buddies crashing at the house, swinging from the ceiling, etc!)

ROH at someplace like the Waldorf Astoria in New York City could mean a broom closet. A twenty dollar bill given discretly to the desk clerk can pay off big time. Especially in New York City.

BTW, when I checked in at the Royal Omnin Orleans Hotel on Saturday afternoon at 3:00 pm the nice desk agent informed me that I had been upgraded to a Petite Suite ... it was a very nice room with a big bathroom and nice furnishings and the usual sitting area typical of Junior Suites.

Beckles - glad you get the petite suite since the any major/minor criticism of the Royal Orleans is the fact that some/most rooms are somewhat small. I hacve friens/colleagues who won't stay anywhere else 'cause it's right in the middle of all the FQ partying!

Thought you were just making a joke of the term ROH. My experience is that they are typically sold as vacation packages to agents as "Run of House". No big deal really, especially if you are elite in the given hotel program.

Omni's program, used to make you hand in this coupons which I didn't like and often failed to do! Don't know if they still do since I haven't stayed at an Omni in about three years or more. Not that many locations that are good for me!

doc ~ As I said in my posting under trip reports, this would definitely be my recommendation for a hotel in the French Quarter unless you absolutely have to have a balcony on Bourbon Street. This location is ideal, being one block off of Bourbon (so it's not as noisy) and the property is very very nice (though I did not get an opportunity to see if the rooms are typically small luckily!).

This property is truly right in the heart of the French Quarter.
