Capital One Bank Offer

Got an offer to join Cap One Bank. No fees for a minimum daily average balance of $1,500 (or a direct depost of 1,000/month). 2k miles for opening the account and 8k for the first direct deposit. Also $200 "gift" for direct deposit setup.

Sounds pretty good, better than the $150 Chase offer I took up a few months ago. Mailer says it's targeted, promo code is "RR2", YMMV.

Does anyone know if they do a credit pull? I Google'd the offer and it looks like they've offered $300 in the past, anyone current on their other currently available offers? Thanks all!

My $300 offer for $5K is valid until Jan 9th, I think. I remember printing it off the net, but don't remember the site.

Some of these offers are location specific. They were running a targeted offer in Austin through 12/31 for $200 cash back on a new checking account with $500 opening deposit, after setting up direct deposit or making 5 debit card purchases. It also provided no service charge, no check printing charge, no atm fees benefits with no minimum balance.

Looked around and the only one I could find is for business checking, was this for personal?

Also, any idea about the credit pull for the personal checking? I assume not since it's a bank account and not credit card but I want to be sure...

I actually opened up an account on New Years using the RR2 code and it worked just fine. (I'm in Dallas, TX) It didn't lay out the specifics of any monies credited to my account.

Since I can no longer earn AA miles, it was time to trash my Citi account. Especially at $15.00 per month.

Rewards program
Account holder will earn rewards for every debit card purchase: 20 miles for each Non-PIN based purchase (when ‘credit‘ is chosen at checkout) and 10 miles for each PIN-based purchase (when debit/PIN is chosen at checkout). Account holder will also earn 20 miles for every electronic bill payment transaction via Online Bill Pay and recurring pre-authorized payment (up to 10 transactions per month) and 10 miles for all other customer-initiated withdrawal transactions (up to 10 transactions per month). Rewards do not accumulate for fees of any kind, such as NSF fees. Miles will be applied to the rewards balance on a monthly basis within 60 days after the end of each month. Capital One has the right to change or cancel this rewards program at any time.

Account Opening Bonus for new Accounts: Customers will receive a one-time bonus of 2,000 miles when a new account is opened and the first transaction posts to the checking account. This bonus will be applied to the rewards balance within 60 days of the transaction amount posting to the account.

Direct Deposit Bonus for new Accounts: Account holders will receive a one-time bonus of 8,000 miles when the first direct deposit transaction posts to the checking account. Direct deposit must occur within 90 days of opening to qualify. This bonus will be applied to the rewards balance within 60 days of the transaction amount posting to the account. Direct deposit is subject to your employer or other payor offering direct deposit option.

Anniversary Bonus: Account holder will receive 2,000 miles on the first rewards membership anniversary with us if at least one debit card purchase is made during the first membership year. This bonus will be applied to the rewards balance within 60 days following the rewards membership anniversary date.

Question about the miles: Are they real miles or the Cap One "miles?"

Thanks,
Mike

I bit, and I might actually use the account.

They offered me $200 for opening the account, and 12,000 bonus miles for setting up direct deposit and what not. Linked to the C1 Venture card, these "miles" are the same as the ones I got with the credit card. So, total of $320 for signup + direct deposit, not bad.

Now, with the offer I signed up under, I get something like 20 points for each debit card transaction, online bill pay and other transactions. So I might actually use this account for bill pay and small transactions.

Wonder if these accounts will generate a 1099?

I got a similair offer (code: DIG) that will credit $300 after depositing $3,000.

This looks like a pretty good return, even if I do get a 1099. I'm almost certain I will since this appears to be a cash credit to the account.

Any idea on expiry date for the offer? The website doesn't confirm what offer you sign up for (at least not in the first few pages I went through...didn't go through to the end yet). Is this for personal or business?

The expiry on my offer is the end of Feb, but I also have to complete a Bill Pay transaction by the end of Feb, too.

The offer is for a business account.

I just opened a personal account with the expired code RM4. I received 40k points and only had to deposit $50 and set up direct deposit! I went into to the branch and just told the rep to try this code and it worked. I was a little shocked. I'm not sure if it would work for anyone else, but if you are setting up an account anyways, throw this code at them first.

Good luck.

I wrote in more detail here.

I went through my internet browsing history and managed to find the page where the coupon for $300 was posted. The website doesn't provide any information about whether the offer is limited to specific regions. More details here.
