I am planning to purchase 2 iphone 4s when they come out for sale next week. I am planning to start a new contract with Sprint and looking to see any opportunities to get some miles as a bonus. I have miles of UA, AA and DL and have good use of anymiles on these airlines..Any suggestions on where to buy to maximize the miles?
Cheers!

I did a post on that exact topic yesterday on my blog that may give you some ideas. It mainly has to do with buying the phone through a shopping portal online. If anyone finds a better route, I'd love to have that info as I may be getting one myself.

Something to keep in mind is the long term cost of the phone. I would highly suggest looking into getting a FAN account for a discount on the monthly service with AT&T. If I remember correctly all you need is an email address from a participating university. Maybe you have kids... or your neighbors have kids in college that can let you obtain a FAN account. The discount is usually between 10-16%

If you have an AMEX that accrues MR points you can use the Membership Rewards Mall link to click through and buy the phones from the Apple store. It is currently paying 4x points, so you could get over 1,600 points for two 16GB phones.

The Apple store is under the office supplies category.
Once you have the MR points you can transfer them into DL and I believe AA, sometimes with a bonus multiplier.

Another option is to look for an online discounter (firefly wireless, amazon wireless, etc.) and just save some money.

There was all sorts of stuff I had to select with my plan that I don't think you can select on the Apple site. Maybe I'm wrong.

Really? I am pretty sure I was only able to early upgrade through my Verizon Wireless online login account... Does the Amex MR shopping portal have a way to go through your Verizon account for that?

First, go log in to AMEX Membership Rewards shopping portal, navigate to the office supplies category, and click through to the Apple store, iPhone tab.
1) Select your phone color and model (16, 32, 64 GB)
2) Select your carrier (Verizon)
3) Input your Verizon info (account #, login info)
4) Site verifies your upgrade eligibility
5) Select a new plan, message, minutes, etc. or keep the old one
6) Pay with the proper AMEX

I'm on AT&T, but I'm told the process is the same.

I’ve noticed that by going directly with Sprint, Apple Care is a flat $99 fee--- supposedly Best Buy charges a $14.99 monthly rate for their insurance. I’ve heard that if you buy the IPhone directly from Apple that they only charge a flat $69 for Apple Care--- is this still the case?
So for me it isn’t worth it to get a few miles by buying the IPhone from Best Buy and pay higher insurance; if the Apple Care plan is still a flat $69 fee, then going through the Amex Mall directly with Apple may be your best value.

Id suggest to anyone getting an IPhone to consider insurance. The Iphone is pretty fragile, and can have issues.

I've heard pretty good things about the Squaretrade warranty also.
