Preparing for Churn Oct 5th
With the news of the Chase United Explorer card available to everyone with the bonus 60K bonus, I have marked these for the churn:
USAir MasterCard World Elite (barclays)..........40,000 miles after 1st use CHase INK Business VISA (chase)...................50,000 UR points United Explorer VISA (chase)..........................60,000 miles AAdvantage VISA (citibank)............................75,000 miles AAdvantage BUSINESS VISA (citibank)..............75,000 miles I do have a USAir Mastercard already, and currently hold ONE Chase card (Sappphire Preferred), and TWO CITI ThankYOu card (VISA & Amex)... would like to get your thoughts on my plan......ideas? tips? :D |
I don't think you can churn them. Most of the offers today have a clause "bonus offer applies to first time card holders only" or similar, so it's a one-time deal.

Instead of AA Visa and AA Business Visa, I'd go for the AA Visa with the AA Amex for this round. Since both are personal cards, once you get one (without concurrently getting the other) you can't get the bonus until (people are reporting) 18 months after application on another personal card. Therefore getting 2 at the same time circumvents that and allows both personal bonuses to be received. Then, in your next round of churning you can include the AA Visa business.
Any particular reason why you include the USAir? The bonus doesn't seem that lucrative and they can sometimes give you a lesser card with a lower bonus. |

For the OP, I'd pass on the AA business, get the AA Amex instead and then get the business in 65 days |

That's good to know. Is it 18 months after closing the "old" card?

AAdvantage Cards
just a side note, the last time i had the AAdvantage cards was 2009..I believe i got them (both personal Amex + Visa) in 11 or 12 of 2009...so I should be good to go..
HOWEVER (not sure this makes a difference) ...I did get the *CITIBANK* ThankYou cards in July...but they are NOT the AAdvantage cards...so I should be okay..yeah? |
To everything (Churn, Churn, Churn)
There is a season (Churn, Churn, Churn) And it is Grand Slam season now where you could piggy back a pile of miles onto that USAirways card.:p

How do you redeem the miles on other carriers? For example I have 150k American miles and 50k Continental miles. But I've found no way to use those miles on other star alliance carriers.

Post #2 in the AA card thread (thisi forum) has the skinny Do I have a good chance of getting approved for the 75K offers if I apply for the Citi AA personal Visa and Amex cards within the next few weeks...or do I need to wait at least 7 more months? |
Here is my list for around the same timeframe
Amex Gold Biz 50k Amex SPG Biz 30k (this link i bookmarked weeks ago is live .. i'll obviously keep print outs of screen shots https://www201.americanexpress.com/s...TD&om_lid=axp5) (are two Amex apps on a single day possible?) chase ink business 50k United 60K Chase (are two Chase apps on a single day possible?) bank of Hawaii Hawaii air (70k points via xfer to Hilton) BOA Hawaii (70k points via xfer to Hilton) (I've successfully done two BOA apps on a single day) Citi thank U 50 k Preferred (no fee) Citi Business AA 75k (two Citi apps on a single day i.e. two browser trick) |

Are the chase ink biz 50k and the citi thank you 50k targeted offers? If not, can you please share the links. I'm looking for a similar credit card roundup, but looking forward to the new united mileage explorer card.

The 18month rule is the bare minimum as only sometimes people can get the AA cards again, but the more realistic time is 22-24months. I applied for AA at 20 months and got the "denied" for not being a new member. I took another chance and applied again at 24months and got the AA personal cards. So, AA cards are churnable but must wait about 2 yrs to happen. Never did any for Chase cards so Not sure if the 1st timer rule is written in stone for Chase cards or if they are churnable after a long waiting period. Perhaps someone can clarify how long I have to wait to churn Chase cards again as I'll mark that on my calender. |

I am tempted to get the hawaiian air cards just for the transfer to hilton. I just got the 2 citi aa personal cards (applied 2 days back), is it wise to apply for these cards too?
|
Don't forget the Chase CO Biz card (as well as personal card). They disappear very soon. I had the personal so this month I got the biz card- 25K on first spend, no first year fee.
You have to think far ahead on churns. Most of the other ones will still be there in the future. Last chance for CO. |
App-O-Rama, what do you think?
In a similar situation and looking to do an app-o-rama as soon as my 65 days clears and I can get the AA/Visa Biz card.
Here is what I already have: Citi AA/Visa Personal- 75k on 7/29 BOA Alaska Airlines Visa- 40k on 8/2 Chase Sapphire Preferred- 50k on 8/3 AmEx Premier Gold- 75k (still fighting for the extra 60k) on 8/21 Barclays USAir Mastercard- 40k on 9/25 Barclays USAir Biz MC- 25k on 9/25 (still waiting approval) The USAir Biz was probably a mistake but I hoped applied for that and the personal at the same time would be one pull (still seeing if that will be the case). Also, I got screwed out of the Citi AA/Amex personal (long story). Here is what I'm hoping to include in the app-o-rama: Citi/AA Visa Biz- 75k Chase Ink Bold Biz- 50k Virgin Atlantic- 50k BOA Hawaiian- 35k Hawaiian- 35k United Explorer- 40k Looking for some advice, as I'm not really sold on any of the cards completely other than the AA Visa Biz and the Chase Ink Bold Biz but there doesn't seem to be too many major offers out there. The Virgin Atlantic, the BOA Hawaiian, and the Hawaiian all have no annual fees, which is a little annoying, and I'm not sure when I'd use any of those miles (although it is nice to have a stash). I was hoping to include the United Explorer when it was 60k for everyone, but that seems to be on hold for now, right? Am I missing any good cards? Should I wait on some better offers? And if better offers come, what is the usual wait time between app-o-ramas, 90 days? I don't want to get these and screw myself out of some that come later, although the big offers that were hanging around last year seem to be gone. Thanks. |
Incorrectomundo - the Virgin Atlantic, the BOA Hawaiian, and the Hawaiian all HAVE annual fees. BOAHA+HOAHA=HA from the left coast or interisland hopping, VA=use a partner (Aloha Bonaire! in my case). In the case of BOAHA+HOAHA, Churn and meet the straaaange caaaases as one can never have enough Hawaiian Miles and they can be transferred with no fee (think Swaparama). VA is less churnworthy - like BA you don't wanna go there (at least on their overpriced metal).

Swaparamability
As noted VA can do HA, but can't we all just get along? My VA and BoH HA and BoA HA cards all played nice together. Why use VA for HA when more optimal on CO, UA, and US? Get the BoH HA and BoA HA, stipmine the HA miles then properly dispose of the cards and move on. Ya gotta admit the BoH HA and BoA HA feed HA miles which, like Flexperks, can transfer to other parties with no fees - they definitely have Swaparamability!:p

Other than Hilton, I haven't found any use for Hawaiian miles. BofA gave me a credit line where I could have gotten that card but I decided not worth it. OTOH VA miles can be used on CO, UA, and US and are more valuable on Hawaiian than Hawaiian miles (6K RT inter-island vs. 15K). Plus VA will likely join *A.

hilton
Can someone please confirm for me that the 35,000 Hawaiian Airline miles earned can be converted to 70k Hilton points.
I am very interested in this, but saw someone verbiage today regarding "no transfers with 3rd party miles" and just wanted to confirm that these 35K Miles can in fact be converted to 70,000 Hilton points. Could someone please confirm this for me? |

However, if you look below, when mentioning Hilton, it mentions an exclusion regarding points recieved from a third party or something like that which is why I posed the question. Has anyone sucessfully transferred the Hawaiian Miles to Hilton Points. Any help would be very much appreciated. |
