How many miles is that award??

How many miles is that award??

Compare award costs across about a dozen programs with this new tool. Plug in a city pair and it (hopefully accurately) shows the cost of said award from any program that makes such a ticket available.

Known caveats:
1) The interface sucks.
2) AC is the old numbers.
3) CO=CO or UA

Feedback is welcome. I'm hoping to get it further tweaked in the coming days to something that actually looks good.

Right now there are numbers from about a dozen programs available and more will hopefully be coming soon. In the meantime, I'm interested in how folks think it looks and behaves.
  • Would you rather search specifically for only one-way or return awards?
  • Do you want to see partner awards on the same chart as the "home" metal awards?
  • Would the various classes showing on the same row be better than separate rows?

Any other thoughts/comments are appreciated, too.

Thanks for putting together a great tool. I have my own spreadsheet which serves the same purpose but this is fantastic!

- I could care less about how it looks as the key here is just having a quick reference tool with accurate data. From a few test runs, this looks to accomplish that very well.

- I like seeing partner awards mixed in with the airlines own metal awards on the same chart

- If I were being picky, I would like to be able to sort by points required.

- It would also be helpful to be able to separate one-way from return awards.

Thanks for all the effort put into this! I have definitely bookmarked the page for future reference.

Nice tool. One comment: Just for kicks, I searched RDU to SFO and the Business cost for AA RT is listed as 5000 miles. If that's the case, sign me up!

Great tool. A couple items of feedback

1. Sorting: would like to sort by points required, class of service (coach vs. first), one way or round trip, and by alliance.
2. Links to those award charts - could be nice to see complete options

Thanks again for the good work. I am bookmarking it.

Pretty cool tool. I always wanted something like this. Would like to see a list of program so I can filter them out if I need to.

BTW, I tried searching intra Asia award, and only a few showed up. DL is the one I know I can use to redeem that particular route, but it didn't show.

Nice tool. Noticing that any search for awards into or out of DEN don't seem to be working. Good luck

I was checking for an award later this year, TUS-DPS. For AA award it was showing 90K RT Economy on AA metal only. Didn't list partners. I believe it's 80k for CX, and AA doesn't fly to DPS. Perhaps just piecing an award together? 60K+30k?

I tried IAD - SYD, but could not get AA miles required. I know AA doesn't fly that route, but should it not have come up as partner?

I tried ex DFW, LAX and still did not get it. I only have enough miles on AA.

I thought I fixed that bug in the data already. I'll find it and fix it. I did see similar at one point in my testing.

It also gives me some sympathy for the missing 0 mistake fares due to data entry mistakes.

DL partners are not loaded yet.

This is a bug recently identified with any airport classified as "Central" in the USA. I'll fix it shortly.

AA partner charts are not loaded yet.

Thanks for the feedback so far!

Did EWR to TLV and it came back with numbers (understandably) for Israel in the Middle East in the BA category. BA classifies Israel as Europe 3 so it is 195,000 in First rather than 240,000.

Other than that, thanks for doing the work and for sharing it!

Great tool - thanks!

It would be nice to have the results separated by class first and then by airlines to compare similar products side by side.

By Class or By Carrier

It would be great if you could have it tabbed and sort it by either class or by carrier. That way, you can either compare comparable products (by class) or you can quickly find for a certain carrier.

However, as it is it is a great tool. Thanks.

Sweet. We're a mixed *A/OW family...nice to easily look at one tool to find "sweet spots" in one vs. another. Planning a trip next year that'll involve some central Asia and/or India - nice to easily see different options because they *are* different across the alliances.

Agree with earlier comments: a few simple sorts/filters would be cool. e.g., I just want to look at redeemable one-ways. Or I just want to look at the biz cabin. Etc...

Nice work. ^

I agree that adding a class of service filter to the search would help.

Also, sometimes it listed one way and return for the same airline. I think if the program allows one way only list one way and not return. However, if you must do round trip, then list return only.

What I did to get around most of the issues people had was to copy and paste into excel. I could then do everything I needed.

I agree this is very valuable in finding the sweet spot.

not sure what I'm doing wrong.
I typed in several searches and everytime I hit enter or "calculate it" it just returns me right back to the same empty search page. No results.
