Thank you Flyertalk
in the last 6 months i have accumulated the following:
AA Visa 75k
AA Amex 75k
BA 100k
Sapphire 100k
Amex Gold 75k
Amex Gold Business 75k
500K for doing absolutely nothing.
i have already cancelled the AA cards. I am hesitant to cancel BA and Sapphire. I have read that Chase might not like that very much. Any idea how long to keep them open to be eligible for next round of promotions. Same thing for the gold cards.
Am I missing anything? I think i am going to sit tight and wait for the next round of churning.

How do you get to keep the AA rewards from Visa and AMEX if you cancel them?
Also the AMEX gold and business cards what do you do with the membership rewards because once you cancel cards dont you cancel the membership rewards programs as well?
sorry for all the question just want to see how this works and try to get the hang of this

Once you have earned bonus points or miles (whether they be AA miles, United miles, AmEx points, or whatever) from signing up for a credit card from a credit card company (Chase, CITI, American Express, etc.) the points or miles are yours to keep, however some credit card companies stipulate that you not close the account immediately after earning the points or miles, so I would suggest keeping the credit card account open for at least 10 months (although I believe 6 months is considered by most to be a sufficient amount of time) before closing it.

If you no longer have any American Express credit card open, then the Membership Rewards points earned will be forfeited once you close the credit card account. So, before closing your American Express credit card account you would either use the points for travel or goods or else have them transferred to an airline frequent flyer miles account.
