A new offer from United and Hilton

A new offer from United and Hilton The following from Bloomberg news:

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 3, 1999--For the first time, Hilton HHonors(R) members and United Airlines' frequent flyers will be able to earn both HHonors points and Mileage Plus(R)
miles for all qualifying United flights. Called Mileage plus Nights, this industry milestone is being
offered by Hilton HHonors and United Airlines Mileage Plus from June 1, 1999 through May 31, 2000.
Hilton is already the only hotel company that allows travelers to earn both hotel points and airline miles for the same business-rate stay -- what Hilton calls Double Dipping(R). And now Hilton and United are taking the concept into the air, by offering one HHonors point for every Mileage Plus mile flown on qualifying flights.
"Mileage plus Nights is yet another exclusive HHonors promotion that we take pride in offering to our members," said Jeffrey Diskin, president and chief operating officer of Hilton HHonors Worldwide. "In recent months, we've broken new ground in terms of travel and merchandise reward options, and earning opportunities.

Sorry, Dow was crossing 11,000 at the time I was posting. (12 live shots, special reports, etc.) I was distracted. Here's the fine print.

This promotion is open only to U.S. residents. To receive this offer, travelers must register by calling 800/930-3098 by August 31, 1999. For complete information including terms and conditions, travelers may call the HHonors automated account inquiry system at 800/552-0852 and request fax-back document No. 128.

Dave, thank you for taking time out of the Dow crashing 11K to post this big tip on F-T.
I'm lucky I have time to breath at my place!

Sorry that you can't take advantage of this Rudi (and Merry too -- just warning you when you see this post!)

I see in my future these points going to a birthday gift to myself of an overnight at the Hilton Short Hills (and steak at the nearby Ruth's Chris Steakhouse!)

As always some fine prints - this offer is not available with conjunction with other offers.

I'm going to wait til end of June to register. I'll be taking advantage of double IAD/DCA/BWI miles til end of June.

Thanks for the info and the telephone numbers. The number for registration worked fine, but when I requested the Fax back promotion number 128 on 1-800-552-0852, there is no such thing. I guess they have not posted it yet. Still, the registration number gives enough information about the promotion. Yes, it IS a double dip. At the business rates of course.

Question: If I take a UA flight and do NOT stay at a Hilton, will I still earn MileagePlus miles and HHonors points for my flight only?

The information that I have seen is not clear on whether you have to fly UA and Stay at a Hilton.

By registering it did say qualifying flights on UA and business rates at Hilton. I assume that means both.

The description in United's Mileage Plus Newsletter didn't mention having to stay at Hilton at all. If that's one of the "Restrictions apply," it's pretty significant...and I'm disappointed that United didn't mention it (I've learned not to expect Hilton to draw attention to the fine print).

Has anybody confirmed whether a Hilton stay is required in conjunction with the flight(s)?
