Targeted? 50% bonus on BA Chase miles

I just received a mailer to receive 50% more miles on the BA Chase card. Dates valid from April 15-June 30. Cap of 20k bonus.

Did it by chance say that this was limited to dining, grocery, gas and home improvement purchases? Mine did, and it paints a slightly duller picture of the offer.

My wife and I each have this card, and we each got the mailer. But the eligible purchases are different.

Hers says in footnote #1 that the bonus comes if you meet the requirements specified, of which there are none that I can see, even online.

Mine says the "This bonus offer only applies to net purchases made with your credit card during the promotional period at merchants...:gas stations, grocery and specialty food stores, dining establishments, home improvement stores and hardware stores. ..not eligible...superstores, warehouse clubs, discount stores, and their affiliates."

Not too interesting on the latter.

Same 20K limit on both.

No mention of any restrictions to certain types of spending for the bonus on my offer:

Start using your British Airways Visa Signature Card to earn your bonus miles.
Offer valid from 4/15/2011 to 6/30/2011

Now your purchases can get you closer to your next destination.
for a limited time earn 50% more BA miles in addition to your regular earnings of:
2.5 BA miles per dollar spent on British Airways flights
1.25 BA miles per dollar spent on all other purchases
Earn up to 20,000 bonus BA miles during this promotional period

For those getting the additional mileage mailer, are your BA cards new (from the recent 100K offer) or from the last round of the 100K offer (Dec '09)? Also, do you generally use the BA card for purchases or is it a sock drawer card for you?

1. last round (1/10)
2. used a couple times in the last 6 months

Offer is hardcoded to a 10-digit number you enter that has nothing to do with account number (probably a computer number randomly generated). once number is entered it pops up with a confirmation with the cardholder's name.
So it would seem there's not a way to get in on this short of contacting Chase and complaining.

Applied December 2009 and been hammering it ever since for 2-4-1 purposes. (I got the dining, gas, grocery etc. version of the offer).

Thanks to you both for your response. I called into Chase and asked, but no dice - my account wasn't eligible. Trying the on-line secure message as well but am not hopeful.

We have four Chase BA among the four members of my houshold account. The two actively used cards did not recieve the offer; the two cards that haven't been used in many months each got the offer, one of which was restricted to dining, gas, groceries, and home improvements. The offer on the other card was unrestricted. The two offers arrived the same day. Both cards are from the December 2009 100k promotional offer.

My wife got the unrestricted offer...I got nothing. I use mine a good amount for the 2 4 1 and she rarely uses hers.

I applied for the BA Visa under the last chance of the first round (over a year ago). I kept the card some 10 months. A few days after I cancelled it, I got such an offer in the mail. Great timing on their part!

Wife and I both received a mailer today. Mrs 84fiero got the one offering 50% without any category restrictions; mine is 50% bonus only for the gas, grocery, etc. categories.

We both got the cards in Feb 2010 and use them fairly heavily...and on average roughly the same amount each. There were one or two other BA minor bonuses - including one for 5K bonus for $750/ea month Mar-May, where my wife received the targeted offer and I did not. Which is odd given our similar usage patterns. Perhaps it's just random?

In this case it doesn't matter as I'll just use her card as I'm an authorized user. Just strange the way these come out.

...I wonder if Chase will include purchases after April 15th even when one doesn't register until, say, today. Having used the wife's BA card extensively on our trip to Japan the last two weeks, it would sure be nice to have that included. I guess we'll find out eventually.

Just got the gas, groceries etc. offer for my Marriott card. Even less use than the BA version.

I got my BA card in February 2010, used sparingly since. I received the 50% offer without restriction.

On the same day I received the 50% offer in the mail, I called to "cancel" the card due to the $75 annual fee, but they comped me 5000 miles, so I decided to keep the card.

No luck on the on-line secure message requesting the 50% bonus, so I'm zero for 2. No bonus for me. Got the card Dec '09 and I have been using it this year as I'm shooting to get a 2-4-1 right at year end. We canceled Mrs. Aces card a few months back instead of paying the annual fee, but were able to move her credit line off her BA card onto one of her other Chase cards.
