2 United cards?

Hello,

I received an offer about a couple of months ago that offered me 50,000 United miles if I applied for the United Mileage Plus Select Visa card. I jumped on this offer, but had to call chase to get it approved, and I just completed the $250 spend on it so the miles should post soon. Just today, I received another mailng offering my 50,00 miles if I apply for the United Mileage Plus Visa card (note the lack of select). This seems like an even better deal than the first.

Anyway, I would like to apply for this new offer too, but I will probably try to wait as late as possible since I have gotten two cars from chase (continental, united) in the last month. But before I apply for the new one, do I need to cancel my old card, or could I keep it and have two United mileage Plus cards?

Can you post the link of the new offer?

What do the T&C's say on the non-select offer?

It depends on the total credit limit Chase gives you at its discretion. Sometimes you can negotiate the limit of your credit or number of cards over the phone. If you have a huge credit limit with Chase, you could probably apply for the new card and negotiate with Chase, otherwise it might be good to hold for another six months at least. There are always good deals coming on the way.

I have a related question.
I got the UA 50k offer last year, and I canceled it a month ago.
Now, if a very good offer for the MP Select Visa comes along, would Chase allow me to get the card? Both are UA cards, but they aren't the same card.

Thanks for the feedback. For those requesting links, sorry there isn't one. This was a targeted offer that I received in the mail.

hmm interesting. I just looked over the T&C's of both the non-select and Select card ( I applied for the Select about a month ago, and I had to negotiate with Chase to take some of the credit limit off my Continental card to open the United Select card).

Anyway...the non-select Card says that you have to be a first time account holder previous account holders not eligibe, etc., but it also says the account needs to be open 6 months or Chase reserves the right to deduct the miles from your account.

So I went back and looked at the Select card's T&C's that I previously applied for...with that card, there is no obligation to keep you account open 6 months. I'm guessing this is because for the Select card, I had to pay the $95 annual fee up front, but the non-Select card, the annual fee of $60 is waived for the first year.

So I think my strategy will be to just cancel the Select card once my miles post (since there is no 6 month obligation), and then try to roll the credit line onto another of my chase cards (I currently have 4 of them, the other two are Amazon.com and Freedom).

Also this makes me wonder...the Continental OnePass card also waives the fee for one year (I applied through the link in the thread on FlyerTalk)...so does that mean I probably need to keep that account open for 6 months also? Although, I've read all the stories about the lounge passes coming early, so it may be worth keeping that card until the annual deadline anyway.

EDIT: Just checked the T&C's for the Continental card here: http://www.continental.com/web/en-US...x?&offer=OPP50

Apparently there is no 6 month requirement for the OnePass Card...and my miles already posted for that card.

If the Non-Select card (the one you haven't applied to yet) explicitly says that you have to be a first time account holder, why sign cancel a card that you've already paid a fee for and then apply for a card that you're not eligible for the bonus on?
