Now that might be the best use of these points - assuming suites at Raffles (and presumably Fairmonts/Swissotels) interests you. I might order a set of those certs just to check them out.

Edit - Yep, just ordered 2 sets of these.

I have no knowledge of either Fairmont or Raffles. Funny - the reason I looked into this thread today had to do with them and all I could think is that no way I could search thru the whole thing - and the info is the last posting!

Question - Says a standard suite in Category C. Anyone think we could also use it at either A or B? And anyone know if these can also be used at Fairmonts?

Thanks.

Going to go with a no on higher category. I haven't gone over the site to determine what quality category C is either.

As for Fairmont, also going to guess no since there's a separate $900 award for 52500 points specifically for Fairmont hotels.

C is the 2nd highest category. A and B are lower. The list for C says it includes all A and B properties, so the C cert is valid at all A, B and C properties.

The award language on the Cap One site says it's an Ovation Category C award. The Raffles site lists hotels in this bucket and it includes mostly Fairmont properties.

I ordered 2 sets just to check them out. Hopefully they'll be good at all Category A - C properties, even Fairmonts.

Yep - sure looks like they're good at Fairmonts. I'll report back when I receive the certs. If they're not good at Fairmonts, I'm sure I can find a way to use or otherwise get rid of the Raffles certs. Category C single night certs are available from Working Advantage for $369 each, for a regular room. 29k Cap One points for 2 nights in a suite is a steal.

What's not to understand? $900 denominated as (1) $500 certificate and (4) $100 certificates. Is this confirmed then?

So we have Hyatt at 1x$500, 2x$200, Fairmont at 3x$300 and Ritz Carlton at 1x$500 and 4x$100.

The Raffles one doesn't seem terribly bad either. For 28750 you get two certificates, each valid for single night in in a suite in Collection C (whatever that is) and includes daily breakfast.

So if you turn your 112K from the promo into 115K by spending $1500 more, you can redeem all 115K for 8 nights at Raffles properties.

Also: The points for the Hyatt, Ritz and Fairmont did go up, did it not? It was 51250 before but is now 51500. That's what I'm seeing anyway.

Has the question of whether u can actually use the individ hyatt or fairmont certs at different stays been definitively answered?

I.e. Do u have to use $900 at once or can u use the smaller demons in different stays (contrary to t&c)

It's been posed before in the thread but not answered

The Hyatt award includes three certs, each of which can be used on its own or with others.

I stand corrected. Raffles single night certificates valid for listed Fairmont and Swissotel, indeed.

But rats. I was so hoping to top tier would be usable. I wanted Raffles Paris! I checked a random summer date. €650 a night. :(

Plan this right though and one could have a fantastic trip in a single country or region, mixing Fairmont, Hyatt and Ritz-Carlton properties. Germany, Switzerland and Austria suit this Europhile nicely. Not so concerned about status since I'll never hit Hyatt Diamond anyway even if I burned all 341K points on certificates. Mixing and matching is probably my best choice for hopping around a region every 3rd night or so.

Hopefully there's no limiting language on these certs, such as "only valid as Raffles." But my guess is they're regular Ovations certs, which makes them awesome since they're good for suites (the highest level of Ovations certs).

I used to buy the Fairmont night-stay certs from Working Advantage when I wanted rooms at the Fairmont DC, and the certs worked great and provided a huge discount. I never had any trouble using them, even when the hotel was almost sold out and the rates were quite high. Hopefully these certs are as easy to use.

Thanks for pointing out this award possibility.

I'm not familiar with other airline giftcards.

If the miles come before the end of March, $1400 would buy 100,000 *A miles in US Air's half-price promo.

$450 would buy an AmEx Plat card with 50K MR bonus plus all perks, and with current 50% Delta or 40% BA bonuses.

Can anyone confirm that they redeemed their C1 points after purchasing US airways miles?

must have emnough points to cover the WHOLE charge?

I was planning to use by 112,000 points towards a cruise I plan to book next week. The cap 1 cust service rep told me that you MUST have enough points to cover the whole charge or you cannot use points...that is not consistant with what I have read somewhere on flyertalk...can anyone confirm that they have been able to use points to pay for part of previously booked travel?

Thanks
