Call me cynical, but isn't MilePoint simply a new business venture for Randy Petersen now that he has sold out of FlyerTalk and presumably some sort of non-compete agreement he had with Internet Brands has now expired?

I already prefer Milepoint's site structure, to be completely honest.

Of course MilePoint is a business. So is FlyerTalk. Randy is passionate about this topic and both of these communities, and he is still an active contributor to FlyerTalk and part of our community here. As with any business, competition is healthy. In this case though, both of those competitors can work together in many ways to build knowledge, businesses, friendships, relationships, and even families. No-one is being asked to pick "one or the other."

I'm hoping Milepoint will become a focal point for informed discussion, and avoid the twitter/text message type of dialogues that have become typical on FT. I don't need to read a post about every call to a CSR that says "Me too".

They better hurry up. One of their admins already got sucked into a pissing contest. That is not a good sign.

I'm hopeful that because it's less commercial, we'll see less of the newbie "call about a mistake fare", "spoon feed me" mentality over there.

Could be just me but that's my first impression. I'll give it some time.

Maybe it just takes time for a site to mature, but I too have not found Milepoint very helpful. The density of useful information is very low and it is much more difficult to wade through what is not of value.
Perhaps it is also a matter of what I am used to, but for now, I still find FT a far better site for finding out what I need to know and for quickly learning about new stuff I did not previously know about. It has made me appreciate the FT monitors a lot more.

I would love to visit MilePoint, but have they fixed the problem where registration confirmation emails never reached Yahoo mail? I understand the solution is to open a gmail account, but I find it quite ludicrous that I'd have to do that.

Last I heard, the Yahoo delayed/missing confirmation should have not been an issue since Feb 21, 2011.
