Penfed AMEX. No annual fee first year. $45 after.
Reasons I like this card:
1. 20K bonus points upon signup.
2. Bonus categories: 5 pts/$ for airline purchases. 3 pts/$ hotel/restaurant.
this quarter: 2 pts/$ for everything else. Normally 1 pt/$ for everything else.
3. No FOREX fee.
4. Decent credit limit. (at least for me)
5. Priority Pass membership with 2 free passes with 15K spend.
If used to buy airline tickets, 1 pt equals 1.5 cents. Bought 1 AA ticket, was able to get better seats using my AA status. Accumulates FF mileage.
Cons:
1. Conversative Credit Union but not unreasonable. Best to apply for this card first, then get other cards later.
2. Can only book airline tickets online & online booking can be a little "buggy". Good for 1 way or RT.
Bottom line: I have this card for the bonus categories. I got alot of miles buying airline tickets and restaurant/hotel. $3000 airline spend equals a $225 revenue airline ticket. ^

I thought membership in the credit union was heavily restricted to government/Pentagon employees. No outsiders.Originally Posted by CathyJune

What is the redemption rate in general - for example, how would it compare to a grandfathered Travelocity Amex earning 2pt/$1 and redeeming 20k points (10k spend) for a $400 travel credit?

I just redeemed 40K points for a ticket costing $740. taxes are included in the ticket purchase. Originally Posted by UA Fan

see comments above. I can verify US bank flex perks card does not earn any points for mint purchases anymore (which is why it's my least used card now). When they did earn points, this card was the bomb.Originally Posted by Aitchly
