Programs that allow redemptions of paid tickets
I am looking for programs that allow one to redeem points to buy a ticket.
1. TYP - 1cent/mile
2. US Flex Perks - $400 ticket for 20K
3. SPG - varies.
4. Capital One - ?
5. BOA Worldpoints
6. Penfed Amex.
7. Amazon
8. UA - choices (only with miles earned with their CC)
9. DL - only with their Amex
Any others?
Does one have to pay tax on Flex perks redemptions?

Airmiles (Canada): x miles get you a free flight up to y $ or give you a y $ discount
Westjet: AFAIK you earn Air Bucks which can be used as a discount towards any ticket
Priority Club: afaik you can get a travel voucher when redeeming points
Air New Zealand: afaik points can be used to purchase domestic flights / get a discount on revenue tickets (not sure about intl flights)

Penfed AMEX. No annual fee first year. $45 after.
Reasons I like this card:
1. 20K bonus points upon signup.
2. Bonus categories: 5 pts/$ for airline purchases. 3 pts/$ hotel/restaurant.
this quarter: 2 pts/$ for everything else. Normally 1 pt/$ for everything else.
3. No FOREX fee.
4. Decent credit limit. (at least for me)
5. Priority Pass membership with 2 free passes with 15K spend.
If used to buy airline tickets, 1 pt equals 1.5 cents. Bought 1 AA ticket, was able to get better seats using my AA status. Accumulates FF mileage.
Cons:
1. Conversative Credit Union but not unreasonable. Best to apply for this card first, then get other cards later.
2. Can only book airline tickets online & online booking can be a little "buggy". Good for 1 way or RT.
Bottom line: I have this card for the bonus categories. I got alot of miles buying airline tickets and restaurant/hotel. $3000 airline spend equals a $225 revenue airline ticket. ^

- list how many points = a ticket
- how do you get points
For instance, how do you get points with Flex Perks?

I thought membership in the credit union was heavily restricted to government/Pentagon employees. No outsiders.
What is the redemption rate in general - for example, how would it compare to a grandfathered Travelocity Amex earning 2pt/$1 and redeeming 20k points (10k spend) for a $400 travel credit?

I just redeemed 40K points for a ticket costing $740. taxes are included in the ticket purchase.
see comments above. I can verify US bank flex perks card does not earn any points for mint purchases anymore (which is why it's my least used card now). When they did earn points, this card was the bomb.
list how many points = a ticket REGARDING FLEX PERKS 20K points gets you a ticket valued up to $400 inclusive of taxes/fees. 30K points=$400-600 ticket and 40K points = $600-800 ticket- how do you get points BY REGULAR PURCHASES, there are bonus categories but I don't know what they are.

Not really - I looked in joining once and I recalled I could pay $20 to join. Requirement 7 below may be able to get you in
