Is this best thread for using miles: general award tickets?

Do we have a specific thread for award tickets, and related as to how to use miles? Or, is this the appropriate place?

Try the board for your preferred airline.

Thank you all. The situation: have a lot of miles on several airlines, but many times to many destinations, the standard or saver award flights are not available on any of the airlines. Even worse: to go from one departure to a destination which basically takes x hours, when you try to get an award ticket they take 3 x times, possibly even including an extra overnight. Suggestion: alike to other threads about earning miles, we should consider a thread how to use miles across any airline, or alliance.

The problem with a thread for using any miles across any alliance is that it would be gargantuan and eventually no one would read it entirely. Every airline has their own rules and requirements for using miles and they're large enough as it is (See US Airways Award FAQ thread as one example.)

There's generally a thread in each airline forum that has discussion of the best way to use that particular airline's miles within the rules they have laid out.

If you indicate where you want to go and in what class of service - coach, business or first, and maybe even your rough mileage account balances, we could probably point you to your best option. Obviously not all alliances or airlines fly everywhere.

Thank you all. See your point, yet it seems that we have a central thread on generating miles, but an equally important subject: how to use them seems to be neglected / suffering because the issues and answers are fragmentized.

all airlines have different policies & rules & requirements so one thread cannot hold the answers you are looking for....
