I had received the AA miles when I created a fidelity account. Now, I going with the DL miles since it's terms are for existing accounts. I tried to get the AA miles offer again but was told I'm ineligible. Call or send a message to fidelity to see what you're eligible for. I found out I was eiligle for the starwood offer with TD ameritrade even though I had an existing account.

I can't find the T&C on the offer page. Can u provide a link?

I do not know if I have enough posts to provide a link or the rules with links on this forum. So I am gonna stay on the safe side and not post one. I can tell you that the first link available, if you google "TD Ameritrade AA", will take you to see the T&C.

and

It states that the minimum funding is $2,500 and that it must remain open for 6 months from the date you first posted the initial deposit.

So it would seem that once you make the initial deposit and are credited the 1st half of the miles you can withdraw down to the minimum $2.5k and receive the 2nd half of your mileage in ~6 months.

I have just withdrawn down to $2.5k and according to the T&C in 6 Months from my initial deposit I will have the 2nd half.

NO you are not reading it correctly. 2.5K is the minimum amount of deposit that is eligible for this offer which will get you 5,000 miles.

If you deposited more money for more miles you cant pullout the money for 9 months its the amount you selected. You can't deposit 100,000 and reduce it to 2,500 that is in reference to the smallest amount you can initially deposit and be eligible for miles on this offer. It is not saying that you can reduce it to that amount you have to keep the amount that your initial deposit was for 9 months if you read it incorrectly. Its the T&C for the offer in general. You have to keep whatever amount you got the miles for in their for 9 months

has anyone tried signing up through the Starwood link lately?...once I put in my membership number, it goes back to the regular TD Ameritrade site and the application has a different promo

Jesperss Jun 10, 2011 9:39 am

Anyone know if you can transfer 25k worth of stock into the account instead of cash?

LAX_Esq Jun 10, 2011 3:16 pm

I called TD to ask if they could do any miles promos for existing members adding new funds, and the rep said that the branches generally have more power with the promos. They had some guy at my local branch contact me, who sent me an email containing the following:

The promotion for a $250k deposit would be:

1) 25,000 Starwood points

2) 30,000 United Airline miles
What an embarrassment, TD.

Indeed

If you can just transfer securities that you wouldn't otherwise sell any time soon, what's the downside?

That's what I did. I got more miles out of it, but I'd do it again for the smaller numbers. It's not a lot of hassle.

Your branch rep is incorrect.

I sent a secured message several weeks ago about the SPG promo and was offered a one-time exception $25K (new money or equity) for 20K SPG pts. All I need to do is once new money or equity is in the account, reply the secured message and give my SPG number.

Did the ACH on Monday. sent secured mail Tuesday. Got a response Wednesday confirming the SPG pts would be in my account in a few weeks. (The T&C said 6 to 8 weeks?).

Also this morning got a phone call from local branch broker who is assigned with our account. Did a little shoptalk to entertain him and I promised to call him back Wed so we could walk through TD website... I kind of feel bad because it is only 25K and we have no intention for immediate investment. ;)

I have to say TD has been quite responsive to me.

Before the new money I had only $2K at TD just for the streamline QuoteTracker service when the service stopped being offered to non TD customers a year or so ago. Then I found out an ancient account with TD 10+ years ago was never closed despite 0 balance... I could have the streamline quote service w/o opening new account... but it was only 2K so I let it sit there.

Any chance this works with IRA's ??

There was a very unusual $500 offer recently
for $250K+ transfer of an IRA, big quarter page ad in the WSJ.

...I always thought was not allowed for tax-deferred accounts,
but I called in ...a guy on the phone said, yes it is true,

...yet the $500 would have to be treated as an IRA contibution,
I asked? He said no.

Just didn't sound right.
I have to check again.

edit: found it, but it expired May 31st....
I'd rather have 25K SPG anyway
so I will see if I can do that somehow...

It is amusing that they are providing new clients nearly as many SPG points for $20,000 as they are asking existing clients for $250,000.

For the $250,000 offer were there any conditions placed on the amount of time one has to leave there money with TD? or whether they provide them all up front?
Thanks

Read my post no.85. I got the same offer by sending them a polite request via secured mail.

Unlike Fido, TD has mechanism in place to track your "new money". The T&C says the "new money" must stay in the account for 6 months after the SPG pts are posted. Since it takes 6 to 8 weeks or more to have the SPG pts posted, it means 9 months the money must be in the account. Else TD would definitely crawl back the points.

I will follow up as you suggest. But I am also interested in their existing client offer and am curious about whether like the $25,000/ 20,000 Starpoint offer their $250,000 offer has a time stipulation on them that can be clawed back.

All TD offers have the claw back stipulation AFAIK. It certainly does not hurt to ask to make sure. T&C should be readily readable if you find the offer link.

Not sure if you can get both offers together though.

If you have sizable money to move to TD you can negotiate your offer. A friend just did. He got hundred of thousands UA miles. TD also gave him a cruise bonus for him to choose from. He opted for miles which was tailored to him. We are talking about millions of new assets here, btw. The cruise bonus offer actually does have web page. I posted that link in the Fido thread about a week or so ago.
