13 yo got offer
A few weeks ago I got this offer. I have citi amex but no other amex products. Husband had citi amex, as well as Costco and Hilton Amex. He didn't get this offer. Our 13 yo daughter just got this offer last week. She's got an AA account but, of course, no credit cards.
Haven't seen this happen (kids getting offered cc) in many years. When the kids were toddlers they were offered cards, even solicited over the phone. Now I'll go and see what the code # is on offer since if both are the same we might try for a relative who "lives" in our household apply for card. |

The Bonus ID is 3767. I suspect that will not amount to much. If you do get through to a freindly sort, please share you experience!
Interesting data point: my card came today, but had no mention of the 50K offer  I called and verified before activating and was told "yes, you are absolutely going to get the 50K". We'll see  Heck, it is only $500 that I would spend anyway . . . I tried in vain to get Mrs Surface Interval signed up - to no avail. The pat line is: "If you do not have the offer (16 digit RSVP code) in your name we cannot give it to you". I tried two different times and got the same response.

so that's it targeted means you get a 16 digit personalized code...no way to replicate....I will try the bonus code but won't hold my breath....wonder if i should call to activate it and ask the same as you did to make sure i'm getting my 50k...when they say, no only 15k, i can whip out the bonus code associated with the 50k offer tell them i dont have any other documentation and cross my fingers....let ya know how it goes.

targeted only
you cant get it unless they offer it to you. I tried for 50k, but after investigation they only would give me 30k...they said I would have to send them a copy of the offer i recieved....so note that AMEX is tighta$$ed with the points and you better make copies of every detail of the offer you sign up for or they may say tough crap....you cant expect them to honor their offers unless you have documentation of what you signed up for and even then it may be a long process to get your points...as soon as i get my referral points for signing up my wife I am dropping this card ...after PAYING to transfer points to CO or Delta skypesos. Too many other good point cards out there that are more widely accepted and less hassle than AMEX

I think if you received an offer in the mail, you are pretty much guaranteed the card. In my own experience, it took only the time to fill out the online form, and the instant response was I was approved. And this card is really beautiful to look at. Not real gold, but the shine and glimmer is close to it. :)

Ante up to 75000 miles
I received two of the 50K offers from AMEX over the last couple of months and kept putting it off. A week ago I received a new offer for 75K miles. I guess procrastination paid off in this case so I signed up over the phone and all was good. As far as I can tell, the terms are the same as with the 50K miles.

Wow, good for you. Could you share something about your background in terms of AMEX exposure? Do you have other amex cards? If so, which ones? I am wondering what it would take to get them to target me ;)

I was a long-time AMEX Gold cardholder until two years ago and carried a large Membership Rewards balance by using it as my primary card. I cancelled the card about two years ago to focus on Alaska Airlines miles. I do not carry any other AMEX cards. I'd get an occasional offer from them to renew various flavors of their cards but this was the first offer that made me rethink. I was actually going to accept the 50K offer before the deadline in June but the 75K offer showed up in time. I also received the same 50K offer at the same time under a misspelled "alias" of my name, so I guess I was just on the right list.

Update: Made spend and account closed before the end of April - 50k points just posed this morning.
What are you experiencing for a card to points to miles timeline? |

Are they that desperate for getting cardholders? I thought credit was tight, but like you, I kept receiving offers and even got another one after I signed up. They sure are spending a lot on printing and postage. Maybe the last holdout will get 100k? |
The 50,000 offer was in my inbox today. I think there may be one new enticement with this July 31, 2010 expiry. (At least I don't recall it with the last 50,000 offer):
Unlimited $25 Delta Sky Club One-Visit Access — an exclusive benefit for Cardmembers I think my last offer gave 2 free one day passes; as does this latest one again. I just cashed in 30,000 skybonus points to get 4 one-day Sky Club passes yesterday. My reward apparently just got devalued from $200 to $100 for certain Am Ex cardholders. I wish they wanted to give me 75,000 miles also! I would definitely go for it:) |
After my mom (who has no relationship w/ Amex) received an offer of 50k MR points for spending $500, I complained via email to Amex given that I have both the Premier and SPG amex cards (combined spend of $3-4k per month) and only received 15k MR bonus points.
In the past, this would have resulted in a "too bad for you" type of response or a token 1k or 2k bonus MR points. However, this time Amex responded within 2 hours of my email and posted an additional 20k to my MR account. While it was not the 35k difference, it was a pretty good gesture on the part of Amex and I intend to keep the cards. :D |

I was surprised when mys statement closed that the payment due date was only 15 days away. Called Amex and here's what I found: We actually have 30 days to pay because this is a charge card, despite what it says on the online screen.
