The telephone is 19th century technology, largely obsolete for business transactions. In my experience it is much better to write to American Express using the secure messaging facility on the website. Then you can print and save their confirmation. Email creates accountability. |
Just got the card in the mail and was pleasantly surprised as the card show member since 01. Now, I haven't had an AMEX since, oh, about 01 and had my first one back in 90. Not sure of the significance of the Member since date (yeah, yeah do a search, but sine I am an ORIGINAL MEMBER - I am sure I can getway with these little transgressions) - but in any event I am pleased (not sure why).^

someone please explain how to apply for this card? I have the Opt-out thing so i don't get credit offers.

So even though it is a new account with no payment history, AmEx reports it as if it is a 9 year old account. Doing so is an indirect benefit for your credit report since it improves the average age of your accounts (vs. reporting it as an account opened in 2010). |

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/13680495-post4.html However, to obtain the 50,000 point bonus rather than the standard offers you need to have been invited. You can try the Find out which Special Card offers you may be pre-selected for tool located here: https://www201.americanexpress.com/s...special-offers |

jamflyer, the member since date is what AmEx usually reports as the open date to the various credit reporting agencies for your new card.

I took advantage of this offer twice (at the same time - one personal, one business) and ended up with 100k member rewards and no annual fees for the first year. I used the member rewards to pay for airline tickets via "pay with points". The two tickets were open jaw IAD-CPH & ZRH-IAD cost appx. $1200 and the first $1000 was covered by my membership rewards. Basically, I spent $200 on those two tickets to Europe and then canceled the cards before I had to pay the annual fee. It's a great offer!! Jump on it!!

Note of caution from the wise through experience - read the fine print. If you have another AMEX card, they will not waive the fee. Which makes one wonder why they target current AMEX card holders
This is what the offer states. "Also pay no annual fee the first year, a savings of $175.^3" "^3 The annual fee for the Premier Rewards Gold Card from American Express will be waived for the first year. Then the annual fee with...(talks about future years)" Does your offer states something else about charging for the first year if you have another card? |
Mrs Tikimonster got this offer. she's a secondary cardholder on my amex plat. I noticed we actually got a similar offer to this back in March that we somehow didn't get around to filling out in time. This time she did and sent it in. I may actually kill my Plat card once she gets this which seems to have no incrementall value over this card
Key points of offer: 50k points with$500 spend by 06/30 additional 15k point if you spend 30k within a calendar year waive annual fee of $175. Year 2 this fee will cover 5 cards with a $35 fee for a 6th card url is americanexpress.com/applyprg (however as noted you need to provide zip code/rsvp code Incidentally, having read about previous amex offers on FT, we have kept the signup offer paperwork so that if we don't see the MR points in her account we can produce the actual offer. |

Where do you see this on the site? All mine shows is a list of literally every card Amex offers?
|
I got this 50K offer mail myself a couple days ago, but I already have a premier rewards gold. Can I apply nonetheless and hope to be approved, or can I give it to someone else with different name to apply?
I put the RSVP code on the website and it didn't pre-populate the screen with the name on the letter. This means that other people can use the code as well? |
