Using family to earn bonus miles?

Hey there everyone. I have been churning with CITI for about 4 months now and I have 165k AA miles. Since I can't get any new cards for awhile and the coins are on hold I was thinking of new ways to earn these miles. So, I talked to my parents, grandmother and uncle. They all agreed to sign up for 2 CITI cards both 30k and the new BA 100k card. Here's my question:

Can anyone use British Airways miles the way that anyone can use AA miles?

I know with my AA miles, the rules are that anyone's name can be on the ticket redeemed with the miles. The name on the ticket and credit card paying the taxes/fees need to match. Is it the same with BA miles? I will be doing everything for them. Creating 4 new email addresses, 4 AA accounts, 4 BA accounts, applying for the cards and satisfying all the requirements to earn the bonuses.

BA

The BA offer is with Chase not Citi. I don't believe you can use the BA miles for TATL on AA.

Does TATL stand for Trans Atlantic something? I saw that on the BA site. It says that AA is a partner and BA miles can be redeemed on AA flights. I just need to know if when booking with BA miles, can the name on the ticket differ from the name on the BA account? Thanks for you input.

Have your BAEC account designated as a family account and link each family member to it. All of their miles will be pooled in your account and can be used by any family member. You can also redeam for travel in anyones name does not have to be a family member. BA and AA does not allow TATL one each others metal but you can fly AA to the gateway city.

Someone corrects me if I am wrong, but I am of the impression that if you have a household account to pool miles, you cannot redeem for anyone outside of the household.

That's what it states in the T&C http://www.britishairways.com/travel...s/public/en_us

16.1.14. Subject to Clause 16.1.12, Awards can only be issued by British Airways to members of the Household Account (and will not be issued to persons that are not members of such an account), as designated/nominated by a Household Account member at the time of issuance, after which Awards may not be transferred or reissued to a different name.

You can deactivate the household account when you need to get a ticket for a non family member, or add the non family member to your "family". IIR there was a 6 month waiting period if you deactivate to prevent people from switching it on and off.

Not completely correct as it applies to U.S. destinations so routing via Canada and Mexico is allowed.

Thank you everyone for your very helpful replies, especially the ones concerning a family account with BA. So far I haven't signed any of them up for the Chase card, but everyone was approved for the 2 CITI CC's with 30k mile bonuses. So now I have 4 new MCs and 4 VISAs that I will need to spend the $750 on. They were all new customers so the fee should be waived. With the coins on hold for now, I think I will send the money via paypal but I'm not 100% sure yet. It will cost me $180 in fees to send 8 $750 transactions. So, $180 for 240,000 AA miles, that seems like a fair deal. Thanks again!

AA?

What about Aa? Can you put your ff number on their cards? So the points and lifetime miles go on your account?
