No More Churing Citi TYN Cards?
I opened a Citi Forward Visa card and 3 months after the points posted I cancelled the card and today all of those points were gone. TYN customer service told me that if you cancel certain cards the card issuer will request that TYN remove your points. Never happenned to me before. My question is has anyone else had this experience, is it just Visa or all TYN cards?

I used the card for 3 months, I have been churning other Citi TYN cards for about a year. The rep told me it has been the credit cards companies policy they just never enfoced it until recently. Sure enough I checked the fine print on the Visa card site and it says that if you close the card any points can be taken away, which is what happenned. Has this happenned to anyone else?

It is, reportedly, all TYN linked cards. You might have luck transferring points to another card, but it is best to spend down excess TYP as you get them, especially if you are churning.

Is this the ONLY active TYP card before you canceled?
If so, yes, you lost all the points.
The rules now are you would lose the TYP related to the card canceled. However, it seems if you keep at least one sponsor account active, thus your TYN account is active, the pts still stay.
If you cancel your last sponsor account, then you lose any balance in your TYN account.

What's the URL for the page where you found that language? I just opened a CitiForward Visa card, and a check of the TOS does not reveal any comparable restriction.

Citi changed TYN rules sometime back (I think it is in August) where if you close credit card that earns TY points, the points earned from that card are deducted from TYN. So even if you have other cards that earns TY points, you will lose points from closed card.
I think this is what happened with OP's closed account.

ThankYou Network and "the card issuer" are, in fact, both Citi. I would not generalize from this to Citi cards linked to other reward programs such as American Airlines AAdvantage Miles or Hilton HHonors points.

I believe you confuse the American Airlines Miles with the Thank You Points.

If your participating Sponsor Account is closed, you will no longer be able to accumulate and may lose the ThankYou Points that you earned through that Sponsor and through ThankYou Network. If all your Sponsor Accounts are closed, we may close your ThankYou Member Account.

Here is the wording from the Citi Forward card....If you are approved for a Card Account, a ThankYou Network Member Account ("ThankYou Member Account") will be set up for you. ThankYou Points post to your Card Account at the close of each billing cycle, and at that time, we will transfer the ThankYou Points you earned to your ThankYou Member Account. ThankYou Points are not eligible for redemption until they are transferred to your ThankYou Member Account. ThankYou Points may not be redeemed and may be lost if your Card Account is not open or current.
