. The $ 18 is an AIRPORT TAX not departure tax

I would not trust any departure tax to be included in your ticket price. However they name it, I can't see them doing away with it. As an FYI, many people have been notified that the departure tax will be going up to $29. I don't know if this will be in addition to the $18 or in lieu of it, but you will still have to pay at least $18 to leave the country. As an fyi, I would not attempt to argue around this fee, as the airport police are not very accomodating to Americans.....Trust me on this one.

Also, do not forget our friend here on FT, Gaucho100K, who has an excellent wine shop in BsAs. A visit by his place is always worth your while!!!

Yes, I'm not sure what is called, but I'm sure it is collected in my ticket and it's $29. This is Argentina so don't be surprised if the implementation of the change is chaotic (and they try to rip you off charging you twice in the process).

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'm really looking forward to my few hours in Buenos Aries now!

Can anyone give an estimate on how long immigration normally takes? I arrive at 07:50a.

It's very quick for the morning arrivals. I was through immigration in under 5 minutes. Customs takes longer if you have to wait for checked luggage, but I'm assuming you won't be.

Note: Do not change money inside Customs! The last time I was at EZE, the exchange rates at the booth inside Customs were MUCH worse than right outside the door in the public hallway. What a scam! The company operating the booths must make a lot of money this way from unsuspecting travelers who arrive desperate to get Argentine pesos.

Wrong.
As I told, the new fee is 29$ and it's included in your tickets from now on. I flew out of EZE yesterday and it was already collected on my ticket.
Same happens with domestic fees (went from 8$ to 18$ or so)
