any thoughts on IAH

Hi there- I'm new to flyer talk, this is my first post after being a reader for a while:) I will be just under 5k short of gold on CO and I really wanna hit it as I've never been elite before let alone gold. I haven't seen too much in regards to deals on CO from IAH but maybe I just do not know ow to look. I was wondering if any of you could help me out. Weekends work best throwing in a Friday or monday if needed. and I'd like to try and keep it under $400 if possible.

Get a RT to SAT or AUS. Nest in a trip to PDX or SEA. Some good prices early December. Use the month long search to find them. GL.

NWA runs out of NYC

Got 30k on NWA with 13k more booked. I'll have 1-2 more trips to germany - any thoughts on how to maximize and possible requal for platinum? Gold on skyteam is crap compared to united (no lounge access etc).

Fly in Biz or make a couple runs. You are a LOT of miles short at this point.

Hello! I am trying to get to Gold status with NW. NW or DL would be great. Here is my info:

1. No. of miles/segments that you have at present: 44,207/37

2. How many more miles/segments will it take to reach your goal: 5793/23

3. Where are you are based: MSP

4. Whether or not there is some place specific that you would really like to go: LAS, SJU, MIA, SFO, LAX

5. Dates you are available to travel are must a must - in both directions, please! Flexible, prefer to leave on a Thurs. or Fri. with a 1 night stay.

6. Also, it would help if you mentioned the budget, please! Trying to keep it under $500.

Thank you for your help!

try a muti-city on dl.com msp>sju, sju>den and then add on o/w on nwa.com to get from den back to msp. It's pretty close to the miles you need (I didn't add them all up) and it's right around $500. It was about $100 less if you overnight in DEN. Not a great deal, but it's within shouting distance of your criteria above. (I used 12/10 outbound with a 12/11 return).

I am sure I can use ITA to say something like "find me all UA fares to anywhere in the US or EU that end up costing me less than $400/person and generate at least 4500 miles" And then give it a couple days to play with. I normally do MR's with a day or 2's 'rest' in the middle, as my SO hates same day turnarounds. I figgured out of course how to get ITA to give me fares 300 miles from X, but I am in no way a power ITA user, and would appreciate the help.

Uhhh... you are going to need to give us more information, like where you are departing from and how short in mileage you are.

Hi - I need to do a 7700 mile run to make Gold on UA. Any suggestions? Have to do this in November.

If you want to do it in one fell swoop, there is IAD to HNL for about 9644-9656 miles at $463-466. Available Nov. 15 or 20, but requires 2 night stay. A possible weekender is IAD-MUC for 8579 miles at $676, Nov. 22 to 23; pitfalls include a 55 min. cnx at MUC and a RJ ride. I'm also seeing IAD-FRA at $680, Nov. 29-30.

Otherwise, your best bet would be to do a pair of transcons. You would have to at least go to TUS or RNO, so the entire Pacific coast is yours to try (SAN, LAX, SFO, PDX, SEA).

Here is our info:

1. No. of miles/segments that you have at present: 29,278 EQM, 19 segments

2. How many more miles/segments will it take to reach your goal: 20,000 and change

3. Where are you are based: ORD, but we could fly from MKE if that helps

4. Whether or not there is some place specific that you would really like to go: HNL/OGG/LIH, anywhere in Europe -- PRG, CDG, FRA esp. but beggars can't be choosers!

5. Dates you are available to travel are a must - in both directions, please! Any weekend (incl. Fri/Mon.) between November 8 and December 31, including Thanksgiving

6. Also, it would help if you mentioned the budget, please! If any miracle worker can do this for less than $1,000/each, I'd be amazed.

Hi All,

Would like to re-qualify for NW Plat this year because of some serious NW travel scheduled for next year and the lower chances for Golds to get upgrades now that DL has reciprocity on upgrades.

Here is my info:

1. No. of miles/segments that you have at present: 63,890 EQM, 49 segs

2. How many more miles/segments will it take to reach your goal: 11,110

3. Where are you are based: DTW, but could fly from FNT/LAN if that helps

4. Whether or not there is some place specific that you would really like to go: Doesn't matter, but would prefer same day turnarounds and flights that I have good upgrade chances on! :)

5. Dates you are available to travel are a must - in both directions, please! Any weekend (incl. Fri/Mon.) between November 14 and December 31, including Thanksgiving

6. Also, it would help if you mentioned the budget, please! As cheap as possible of course, but I'm realistic in how much it takes to make 11,110 miles.

Thanks for any help!

shooting for UA premier exec -- need 1k miles

Hello all -- First off, thanks for lots of tips over the years. I have long been a lurker.

The Dubai leg of a ORD-FRA-JNB-CPT-DXB trip got cancelled on me, and I had to get back home via a non-Star Alliance carrier. Arrgh. So, I need approx 1000 miles to get premier exec status on UA MP. Shouldn't be too hard, I hope. Looking for low CPM and fast out-and-back, though I will take a non-bargain basement CPM in favor of easier scheduling. (Leaving Mrs. Chipat alone with twin toddlers requires some negotiation.)

Flying out of ORD, dates are flexible, weekdays mildly preferable, would really like a same-day turnaround.

thanks in advance for any ideas

The money is actually not an issue.. but still a valid point - $10k is $10k.

The only reason I'm thinking of this crazy move is that I know this is the last year I could possibly make ExecPlat - my travel in 2009 won't be close enough to even try.

The advantages that are worthwhile for me are:
1. First class lounge access on international business itineraries
2. The notable skill of the ExecPlat desk when I call [they really are great]
3. Free upgrades domestic/caribbean (remember I live in Caribbean)
4. The value of the 8 additional eVIPs - hard to quantify, but $10k/8=$1250 per evip - I think that's a conservative value if you consider what you get for upgrading international economy to business (esp now that there are copays).

The other reason, being honest with myself, is just the 'fun' of doing a crazy back to back Delhi flight - I *love* long flights - the longer the better; I get lots of work done, I can sleep (and with that routing I would basically get 2 nights sleep: Sunday and Monday night), etc.

Hope that conveys why I'm even thinking of this...

If you're not going to be flying that much in 2009 what good will the eVIPs or the lounge do for you? You're essentially buying a $10k "chill out" spot for 2 days... you give me the $10k and I'll put you up in a suite with no telephone or internet access for 3 days so you can sleep and get your work done :) . And when you fly next year you could just bribe the lounge employees with $500 :) you save thousands!

PS: if you decide to do this, I'll accept all remaining eVIPs since you wont really be flying anyways hehe

Im new - need help getting ExPlat on AA

I need 10 segments or 25,000 miles on AA to reach Executive Platinum. I fly out of DFW. I think segments is going to be easier / cheaper but welcome advice from those more experienced than me. Any ideas?

I thought I had said, departing from NYC (LGA or JFK, not EWR if I could help it), and 4500 miles.

You mentioned the 4500 miles, but not the departure points. 4500 miles means you will have to fly a transcon.

JFK-SFO for 5158 miles at $295, Nov. 8-10 or LGA-SFO via DEN or ORD for ~4800-5000 miles at $320, Nov. 8-9.
LGA-SMF via DEN/ORD for ~5000 miles at $316, Nov. 8-10.
LGA-SNA via DEN for 4918 miles at $326, Nov. 8-10.

Take your pick. I assumed no USAir. I also saw LGA-ONT too, but figured the above gave you enough to choose from. All UA metal, all bookable at .bomb.
