That is one point. I would also think that this allows them to raise more cash while not having to publish large sales. This way they get some cash from the enthusiasts without having to offer deep discount publicly as well as having control over the rules so they can pull them at any moment.

Ya totally agree. Cash is king right now and we're still paying $1600 - 2500 per ticket for business class seats. Even if we're all switching to Male, our tickets still cost much more than most are willing to pay for an airline booking

As I was planning to go to Australia this xmas already this game me a very cheap way to do so by changing a cheap BKK ticket to SYD. It cost me about the same as flying in premium economy last year.

What was your origin to BKK and fare?

BKK-SIN is 4662 miles (gcmap) hence would be perfect (<5k)

I am trying to do the same thing.

Did you call the US call center or the Qatar center? I am currently on hold with the Qatar call center and will report back my experience.

tried switching my origin and destination with the US call center and was told it’s not allowed. He wouldn’t go into depth when I pressed on him on it and just kept saying it’s not allowed. Will try again later today

I'm just going to cancel the flight within my 24 hour window if I can't get it changed before then. Let's see how this plays out...

I got numerous issues trying to change to HAN or DAD (both of which should be valid) but for some reason are not. I was told SGN is valid but its at 5010 miles so doesn't apply. Agent was happy to change it to BKK for me. Ticketed at 1:30 pacific time. I'll try for my original Hanoi when the dust settles a bit.

I got JFK-KBP changed to MIA-HKG. Had to HUCA 3 times before I got an agent who would do it. Good luck! Likely the deal of 2020 for me assuming travel is permitted late in the year!!
