Departures from Amman also work (not sure if that was mentioned earlier):
Example: AMM - BOM / USD 796 Seems only BOM ex-ATH is attractive, most other cities both India and SE Asia over 1100 https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...77c4ff1b55.jpg ATH is still the cheapest to SE Asia ex-EU as far as I can tell... https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...b82561bb5c.jpg |

Much better connections than ATH, although of course shorter flight and non-lie flat 320s...

Airline schedules seem a little flakey at the moment, so feel safer with an overnight incorporated with positioning. Not sure what the fuss is about no flat-bed on three-hour daytime flight :) |

Google flight has some weird caching issues. The flights might have been pulled and Google flights has phantom inventory. If it don't show up on Saudia.com then it most likely isn't there. You can try some OTA they might have some inventory that Saudia.com does not want to show. Some of the ATH-MLE routes in may don't show up on Saudia but some OTA are willing to sell the tickets. I don't know if they error out.
Couldn't find it bookable on any OTA so far, any OTA anyone would recommend to check ? I wonder if the ticket might only sell in a specific country or so. |

Thanks. I don't think its a regular caching issue with google flights since it has been like that for 3 days now, cashing issues generally are gone within a few hours.

gf is weird. The link directly to SV site is usually busted. Get your desired date, manually enter it in SV site search, usually the results will populate.

Is transit without problems possible? Do you need any visa for the RUH transit?
|
I did a transit in RUH back in 2018. It was quite interesting. Possible without visa for us (European) at the time.
We were about 5 people doing a transit there. We had to wait infront of a "wall" before entering the transit area while they took our passports and disappeared for some minutes. Then they came back and scanned our bags multiple times. They did not talk to the females but instead were just snipping with their fingers towards the females and pointing them to a door. In that room there was a woman in a burka doing the security checks for the females. After the security checks they escorted us to the gate and let us walk around freely afterwards. It was way too early to be at the gate so we went to the lounge. The lounge was quite nice and the staff in the lounge was very friendly. There are showers but no towels available. Overall I would do it again if the price is right. |

Hi good folks - I am tempted to try this deal out, and had a few questions:
I Understand JED has the shiny new lounge -is terminal 1 where it's located? How bad is RUH lounge for a 10hr layover? ATH-SIN has two stopovers, incl short one at MLE. Could I extend this to a couple of days? Thanks in advance! |

Far superior to RUH lounge in all aspects apart from the AC. RUH is small and gets packed. |
Decided to book this to KUL in a few weeks. As I understand correctly, Malaysia doesn't impose any Covid entry restrictions for vaccinated people, so no PCR required.
For Jeddah, I will stay in transit so covid rules don't seem to apply too. Will have to spend 7 hours in their new lounge. |
I am tempted too given the price, but I would be travellng with my wife and 2yo daughter. I presume that transiting (landside) snd spending the night at some airport hotel should be ok.

eVisa is quite straightforward online at £100+ a pop. I've no idea if the visa on arrival has surfaced again - but Saudi can advise you on that. Jeddah's OK for a stay, but it's not geared for tourism (apart from umrah and haj): there's a Holiday Inn close to the airport, and some (probably cheaper) non-chain local establishments. With visa and hotel costs, plus whatever additional expenditure is required for positioning to Athens, I'm not sure this is a family-friendly and pocket-friendly route. |
