This is return unlike previous offers linked above

The cancellation fee is only 80eurs up to the departure day too? And new JED terminal?

Croupier Nov 28, 2019 11:51 pm

Hey thanks,
great fare €689 for a bed from EU to Asia return, WOW.

davistev Nov 29, 2019 12:11 am

beautiful fare

plunet Nov 29, 2019 12:46 am

Seems to be available Jan to Mar, can't see any availability at that price beyond that...

mattspod Nov 29, 2019 1:46 am

How many hours before departure can you cancel for 80eur? Connections in Athens for me a quiet tight <2h30m. If its late I can just write it off and cancel and go home I guess if its quiet flexible

sp333 Nov 29, 2019 3:12 am

Really great find - don’t think it’s an error either
thanks for posting

Culture Guru Nov 29, 2019 3:33 am

Merci pour cette info!!

Amazing find. Keep in mind Saudia is a dry airline, which makes this a lot less appealing to me. But good if you practice Shariah.

It is over according to the french deal website where I found it.

It was limited to 1000 redemptions.

Congratulations to those who benefited from this code.

Great! Bought!

I have flown with them before they opened new JED terminal ... the oldest plane in the world ... it was really tragic.

I hope this time, with lux airport lounge and 787, this will be a better choice, finally ;)

ukiman Nov 29, 2019 10:35 am

Oh, one more thing.

Only departure needs to be till the end of March. I managed to buy return in June.

They have a lie flat on the short haul (and on a A320) and an angle flat on the long haul, lol.

Great fare, too bad I am already booked, geez.

Really amazing. Wish I could jump in, but I guess it won't be around for long, if it actually still is around.

Well, only on the way back apparently. Flights to KUL/CGK are still displayed as leaving from the south terminal (but indeed flights to/from Athens are handled in the new Terminal 1). I understand only narrowbodies to Europe (and selected domestic destinations) have moved so far.
If anyone is familiar with these connection arrangements, and whether it's possible to access the new terminal 1 lounge despite leaving from the south terminal, please share.

Some questions please as Im not familiar with flying dry airlines (well apart from Klm on strike days but thats another story).

1) are you able to have alcohol im the skyteam lounges prior to departure (in ath and kul) or is lounge hallal as well?

2) can you byo alcohol onboard or is that haram?

3) finally I assume that JED is 100% dry but are you allowed to carry alcohol in your luggage without having to worry?

Lounges have alcohol and you can have it. In CGK (GA Lounge), alcohol is hidden behind the bar, ask for it and staff will surely serve you incl spirits.
In KUL, a voucher for alcoholic beverages is given to you. You need to show it at the bar.
In JED/MED/RUH obviously no alcoholic beverage available or allowed. The have 0% Bud there.

Of course, you can bring it. But, this is NOT allowed. However, if you take the risk and hide it from crew, and dispose the items secretly somewhere on the plane, then you will get away with it. Not recommended though!

There is a security check prior re-entering the terminal for your transit flight. Liquids will be checked, alcohol is not allowed.

Honestly, you will survive 15-20 hours without alcohol. It's not a bad idea to travel sober once in a while!

BYOB to be served by crew is allowed on Kuwait Airways, which is a dry country.

Not sure about Saudia and Egyptair. I'd imagine Egyptair is fine because alcohol is readily available in the country even if it's a dry airline.

bodory Dec 11, 2019 6:28 pm

In my experience SV crew (in J) have always been extremely nice. And SV an excellent value prop minus the old JED transit experience. Nonetheless I would not take the risk to bring my own alcohol on board, and on top of that to drink it.

jpdx Dec 12, 2019 3:48 am

I've been on the fence about booking a couple of these. Have flown SV before, and found the 77W/787 seats to be excellent -- very likely the best seats out there (along with CX/BR) for very tall people. What kills the buzz is the terrible layovers in JED. Even assuming that the new airport is a lot nicer than the old (a somewhat safe assumption), 6-8 hours is a long wait. Just tried to book a 3.55am KUL departure, which would result in a mere 2:55h connection in JED, and SV throws up an error message alerting of a 180min MCT. So they really, really want us to spend those 6-8 hours there?

I booked this layover without fear. The new airport will probably be one of the best for overnight layovers, if I understand SA strategy correctly.

AurelAF96 Dec 12, 2019 1:09 pm

My plane on the leg ATH-JED is know with the old configuration and not in the new version with 5 rows and lie-flat seats...

Too bad

Flyingfares Dec 13, 2019 1:31 am

New Business Class fares from Athens with Saudia.

Especially to flights to MRU and JNB are pretty sweet with a decent leg in their new Dreamliner (From €1.118).
