Found some dates that you could fly LAX-AMS-CDG-BKK on a BEST AF 77 CDG-BKK, but not at this fare. For the ~$2100 fare the only dates I could find using AF are the 2-3-2 planes. 18 hour layover in AMS on the return with reasonable hours for sleep.
Searching on the KL site was generally a bust -- found lots of dates with this fare, but many returns included a coach leg BKK-BOM on Air India (no miles earned). Or some with a business class leg on a Jet 737. I think that so long as the the Jet leg has a Jet flight number, it will earn on DL, but at a lower level.
I'd forgotten about the 120% Delta DM bonus.
And 4 more houses!
I think this is the first year since MQDs were initiated that I'll hit MQDs before MQMs.
Thanks to OP, this is a good find.
Hi, I tried to book LAX-BKK but cant find $2.3K price. I used google flight, KLM site and KLM toll free but still came up empty, help!

yes, pain getting it to work, I used google flights to find dates, then tried KLM.us and KLM app both without success. KLM.us came back with lots of returns at the price but using air India coach for bkk-del.
i ended up booking through Chase rewards, which uses Expedia as its engine. You might try Expedia... also tried the booking through flexperks which also uses Expedia. Got to the purchase screen and couldn’t buy.
i did check with KLM WhatsApp during the 24 hour US free cancel period to be sure that the ticketing was in Z for skymiles.
It looks like AA is close to matching the fare. Or if you want SkyTeam, MU, but 6000 fewer miles rt since you are flying transPac.

There are still spots available, however harder to find.

I do see a 6 day trip May 15 to May 21 still available.

Thank you for posting this deal, OP!

It will be two firsts for me: flying in a 787 as well as the nose of a 747 (1A).

I wonder if LAX-SFO-AMS-BKK is allowed given SFO-AMS uses the 787 with some frequency
I just booked the reverse for the return. The SFO-LAX leg is coded as DL, but everything else is coded and operated as KL.

This get the 787 on a day it doesn't fly to LAX.

LAX-AMS-BKK-AMS-SFO-LAX US$2100 Z March 12 through March 27th. All KLM except of course the short last leg.

The increase is due to this line in the fare rules/restrictions:

Category 8: Stopover restrictions
NO STOPOVERS PERMITTED.

TICKETS MUST BE ISSUED ON/AFTER 11FEB 19 AND ON/BEFORE 18FEB 19... Is that issued by midnight in Europe on Feb 18 or issued by midnight PDT in the US for example?

Thanks OP! Great deal, I booked starting April 30th for 10 days.

I found flights on google flights. When it routed me to the KLM website, it came back as nothing was available which was odd. I did the same steps on my mobile phone and was finally able to book!

Not sure, but I just found some availability for May as of 845 am ET US.
Didn't click through to book, but... This was on the FlexPerks site, uses Expedia.

Booked this - thanks OP.

Quick question - I've flown KLM before, credited to DL, and it was all distance/fare class based. Was just looking over how KLM credited back to Skymiles and I noticed the following wording which I hadn't recalled seeing before in the "MILEAGE EARN ON/AFTER JAN. 1, 2018" (albeit right above the "MILEAGE EARN BETWEEN FEB. 1, 2016 AND DEC. 31, 2017" link):

KLM-marketed flights will earn mileage based on the table below if they are ticketed by Delta or meet all three of the following criteria:
  1. Part of a transatlantic itinerary1;
  2. Ticketed by KLM; and
  3. Operated by either Delta or KLM
There's no similar wording for any other tier 1 partner, only KLM - what does this apply to?
