For each request, please include the following information:

Departure Airport:
Miles Needed:
Required Spend or Maximum Budget (choose one, and state the value):
Available Travel Dates:
Required Metal or Codeshares Okay:

Route(s) You've Already Searched:
Do you have a Chinese Visa (Yes/No)?
For each response. Please quote the original request. DO NOT START A NEW THREAD.
There are many good fares to China (PEK or PVG). If you have a Chinese visa, these options will be provided. Otherwise, you may have to take advantage of TWOV (visa on arrival). Its information can be found: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/china/708095-china-24-72-144-hour-transit-without-visa-twov-rules-master-thread.html

If your requested PQM is in a few thousand, please give a more accurate amount. You will get fewer options with a roundup number (eg, 5000 instead of 4830; IAD-SFO nonstop will work for the latter.)

I have flights booked on UA in 2020. Should I just use the Premium Accelerator on one of those flights instead? Looks like it’s $625 for 5000 award and PQM. Thanks in advance!
Flying is not too much cheaper. What I found:

UA:$430 EWR-RSW ~2900PQM
Mon 30 Dec EWR-ORD-RSW-EWR
(2h20m in RSW)
Link: https://flights.app.goo.gl/w7AUC

UA:$436 EWR-MCO 2662PQM
Mon 30 Dec EWR-ORD-MCO-EWR
(5h55m in MCO)
Link: https://flights.app.goo.gl/5h1aJ

UA:$473 EWR-TPA nonstop 1996PQM
Mon 30 Dec EWR-TPA-EWR
(1h00m in TPA)
Link: https://flights.app.goo.gl/mHEDB

The last one is definitely the fastest.

UPDATE: a faster, cheaper one just popped up:

UA:$391 EWR-PBI nonstop 2048PQM
Mon 30 Dec EWR-PBI-EWR
(1h02m in PBI)
Link: https://flights.app.goo.gl/Yocht

need 10k miles and $5k PQD spend on UA - suggestions?

I am way behind this year in UA and next year is a ton of International, so I need to finish with 1K. Based in DEN and willing to buy miles with PA but will need a bis flight or two to get the $5K spend. Only want to do domestic right now due to a family health issue and don't want to be too far away. willing to buy full fare max $$. What suggestion might there be to start travel by the 27th and finish by the 31st?

Thanks and Happy Holidays!

This could actually be very difficult to do this domestically in one trip. To spend 5k even on full fare domestically is nearly impossible. However you could try to go to new York and route through sfo ( not sure if this is even a legal routing) those full fare J tickets can be very expensive though not sure if they are 5k expensive. I would try going into United and plugging in the J fare class specifically to get the most expensive tickets.

I see DEN-HNL (or OGG) nonstop in First is around 2700PQD. So one option is to do something like that twice.

Another option may be to book "unrestricted" on the United site or specify class=J, to see what price it gives you. I suspect it will be higher than the above.

In any case, book something with lay-flat. And you should naturally get well over 10kPQM by the time you spend $5K, no need for Premier Accelerator.

Departure Airport: EWR preferred - I land in to EWR from LAX at 7am on 31 Dec and can fly out 8am onwards.
Miles Needed: 4600 PQM
Required Spend: PQD doesnt matter, preferably want to spend under $600
Available Travel Dates: 31 Dec

Any same day returns under 600$ out of EWR on 31st that folks have found? Can use my expiring pluspoints to upgrade one of the flights too.

Ok, I think I got this to work...use the following search link:

https://www.united.com/ual/en/us/fli...&taxng=1&idx=1

Select the following flights
  1. Sun 29 Dec 4:15pm UA735 DEN-SFO = "Requested Fare Class $7209"
  2. Sun 29 Dec 9:00pm UA349 SFO-EWR = "Requested Fare Class $3702"
  3. Mon 30 Dec 7:30am UA282 EWR-DEN = "Business/First (lowest) $5828"

Total $5827.70 13804PQM 5393PQD

Interestingly the last segment is C-fare...if you do J-fare then it's too low at only $3700.

Sorry it's around $400 over target, but it's pretty fast and doesn't take you too far from home. Good luck!

Having a really hard time coming in under $1k, since the 1x distance pretty mandates Hawaii, which is way over budget. So all I can come up with is:

UA:$1067 CLE-SJU in First 8042PQM
Mon 30 Dec CLE-ORD-SJU
(0h55m in SJU)
Tue 31 Dec SJU-ORD-CLE
Link: https://flights.app.goo.gl/1bC11

First segment is Econ. Other routings may be available for more mileage, not that you need it.

$162 PQD needed

Departure Airport: SFO or thereabouts
Miles Needed: 0 (this is a PQD run)
Required Spend: $162
Available Travel Dates: 12/28 - 12/31
Required Metal or Codeshares Okay: N/A
Route(s) You've Already Searched: SFO / SJC - west coast
Do you have a Chinese Visa (Yes/No)? No

I made a dumb mistake earlier this year and booked SFO-AES through a travel agent. I got the miles but not the PQD, so now I'm $162 short. I'm seeing some things in the $350 range for a same-day mileage run. Are there better options?

Ouch! Best I have been able to find is:

UA:$258 SFO-DEN in BasicEcon 220PQD
Tue 31 Dec SFO-DEN-SFO
(1h04m in DEN)
Link: https://flights.app.goo.gl/XAets

Alternatively, is there a way to do SMF-SFO via public transportation? If so:

UA:$212 SFO-SMF one-way 184PQD
Tue 31 Dec SFO-SMF
Link: https://flights.app.goo.gl/ozkqs
(Unfortunately, the BE fare is only 155PQD.)

UA:$877 CLT-ANC 6890PQM or UA:$785 CLT-LIM 7678PQM

David, thanks for catching that!

This one is a immediate turn:

UA:$877 CLT-ANC 6890PQM
Mon 30 Dec CLT-ORD-ANC-ORD
(0h49m in ANC, 1h40m in ORD on the return)
Tue 31 Dec ORD-CLT
Link: https://flights.app.goo.gl/UHEoK

Longer routing on the return also possible, if you need more.

This one is cheaper, but requires an overnight (which probably means it's not cheaper):

UA:$785 CLT-LIM 7678PQM
Mon 30 Dec CLT-IAH-LIM
(24h00m in LIM)
Tue 31 Dec LIM-IAH-CLT
Link: https://flights.app.goo.gl/gGYCD
