Expedia let me select seats at time of booking. I haven't looked at my trip on HX to see if they are confirmed though.

FWIW, also seeing Hainan Airlines and China Southern Airlines offer sub $2000 Biz RT LAX to PVG and CKG (prob others). At least those can be credited to other partner airlines.

Sub 2000 vs 580 ish. I would still take cheaper.

Helped a friend grab one of these through Expedia 25 minutes ago. How does one tell it is ticketed when booked through Expedia? Can you get the HX PNR from Expedia and select seats through HX or can seat selection be done through Expedia after booking and if so how? Thanks!

ETA:
And, he bought travel insurance through Expedia when booking. Any experience if this is not honored whether the Expedia travel insurance will pick up the cost?
