Original premium fare deal was for QR J class travel, originating in Vietnam (SGN and HAN) to several destinations across the Americas, Europe, and Africa. Travel period 8/2017 - 3/2018 inclusive, RT fares in the USD 500 - 700 range (USD $0.05 base fare).
Reports have now been circulating that all held, non-purchased fares have been canceled by the airline. Some held and then purchased fares were also canceled, but several reports indicate at least some of those have been re-instated.

FWIW, I flew QR biz on A330 MXP-DOH two weeks ago and was disappointed that I got "stuck" in the last (4th) row when I reserved my seat...but ended up a blessing as 1st 3 rows were all in same "cabin" while 4th row was in a "cabin" all its own. Very private. Very nice. Spent a few hours chatting with a 20 year veteran QR 777 pilot deadheading in the seat next to me.
Side (silly) question: how can I check which config my SGN-DOH is? Can't seem to find a flight search or seatmap page on ExpertFlyer...

Well I'll have to give QR a call today. They did charge me to hold my reservation - which is a contract to provide the service. I'm sure they'd prefer to refund the hold fee, but I'm going to push for providing the service promised.

here's my story:
HAN-BKK-DOH-JFK-DOH-HAN\\\AUG 23-27. pretty short turn around. the longest layover is really 19 hour in DOH on the DOH-HAN leg. however, i took advantage of the +QR hotel promotion for a stay at the Sharq Village & Spa for free (one night).
question: are people with US passport getting a visa from the Vietnamese consulate before hand, or just waiting airside and not get a visa as we are just transiting to another flight and won't leave the airport at all? OR is there another alternative that i am not aware of?
i had my reservation on hold, paid with amex after about 2 hours on hold (no verification needed whatsoever), ticket cancelled and now reinstated. When i went back to manage my booking on the QR site, i didn't see a ticket # under my name yesterday, but today the ticket # is there. HOWEVER, there is a middle initial added THAT IS NOT MINE. i didn't by mistake put an extra letter in the middle name field and none of my initial (pre-cancellation) ticket had the extra letter so it is def not my wrongdoing. so i've sent an email to QR asking about it.
when my ticket was cancelled, i sent an email to QR regarding why my booking was cancelled and i got this email back today:
Dear ,
This is in reference to your email dated 1st August 2017.
On behalf of Qatar Airways, we would like to apologize for the system error which has regrettably cancelled your flight reservation - (my PNR here).
We have initiated an investigation to ensure that all necessary steps are taken to prevent similar situations from occurring in the future. Meanwhile, your booking has been reinstated and we look forward to welcoming you on board Qatar Airways.
