I've actually never taken advantage of one of these deals. It's a long trip in coach, especially if you have to connect in Oz.
Just to see, I casually asked Mrs. TrojanTraveler if she had any desire to go to New Zealand (without mentioning anything about this deal). Her first comments were "not in coach". That ended the discussion. Not sure how she got so spoiled...

you may be right, just repriced to $2586 for three even though it still shows as $215 (LAX) when it first lists the flights after searching

Strange... I was able to get my seats assigned on QF's website. Did not see any $30 AUD mentioned beside 180 AUD for "extra legroom seat" (exit row). But yea, I was able to assigned seats on the upper deck of the 380 right behind Y+. QF's website does reflect my status as emerald so maybe it has something to do with that. ^
