Multi-hop vs direct
Sorry for a simple FAQ, but my mind is fading quick from searching the forums. Nobody ever mentions this so it must be a foregone conclusion.
I'm researching a premium MR from Boston to the west coast or HKG.
The WebFlyer calculator shows the following distances:
BOS-YVR = 2500 miles
BOS-DFW-YVR = 3310
So my question is - would my base mileage credit be 2500 or 3310?
AA website only says that base mileage goes toward elite status but I thought they used to only count from origin to destination and any extra mileage from intermediate hops doesn't count.
Fareclass I gets 2MQM, so it might be worth getting out at DFW and stretching my legs for 2x2x(3310-2500)= 2440 miles.

If BOS-DFW-YVR is all the same flight #, it will count same as BOS-YVR direct. If each segment is different flight #, then it will be BOS-DFW + DFW-YVR. Also if either flight you pick is business/first, it will be 2X EQM.

This one threw me while reading the first thing in the morning...
Thanks for the specifics arollins.
I'll pay closer attention to my connections and "flight numbers" so I don't get burned in the future.
