my bad - I'm based in Canada, I was thinking CAD, sorry. 2.5 CAD = ~1.9 cents USD. So that makes it that value, too. Canadian MR points are, ironically, worth more than US MR points because of how ...... the CAD is at the moment. We're all praying against conversion-devaluations.

I assume that the highest value anyone ever manages is a premium seat on an international flight. Anyone get high value for another redemption value? If you get 2% cash back on every spend with a card like Fidelity's, is there much, if anything more with AmEx?

CAD dropped quite a bit this year.Personally, I try not to redeem SPG points for hotels unless I get at least 2.5 cents (USD) value and, preferably, higher. Usually, though, SPG is more beneficial when transferring to airlines (especially since there are a lot of partners).
P.S. Sometimes there ARE some good opportunities for hotel redemption. Have a reservation for summer 2016 with an SPG hotel where I'm getting about 8 cents per point
