DO NOT CALL THE AIRLINES UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE WHILE A DEAL IS STILL ACTIVE.

Fare is gone: You can safely add your frequent flyer number, get seat assignments and poke about in your itinerary.

Checking Your Tickets

Check Alitalia status: https://mm.alitalia.com/us_en/BOOKING/Apvsearch.aspx
(middle names should be included with the first name without a space IN CAPITAL LETTERS. For example, First Middle O'Last becomes "FIRST MIDDLE" "O LAST"):

Check KLM/AF status: http://www.airfrance.us/cgi-bin/AF/U...rRbkAction.do?
(may also work to change/select seats. A name like O'Last becomes "Olast")

Check Ticket Details: http://www.saudiairlines.com/portal/...rlines/Welcome
Double Check: http://www.checkmytrip.com

Will this ticket be honored?

Based on the history of these deals and the US Department of Transportation rules you should be fine if you have a ticket number.

If your JFK-MXP flight shows as cancelled on the KLM website and the Alitalia website gives an error, don't worry about it. That having been said, there are several people about to do this, and if you're one of them please share you experience on this leg (if you cannot edit the wiki, PM WhIteSidE).

Wanna know your booking class?
Go to Delta.com:

Home > My Delta > My Trips > Trip Details > VIEW RECEIPT

Will I earn miles?

If you are in this for miles be aware that you may not earn miles.
  1. Delta: Booked on carrier websites: Yes. Despite earlier concerns, it appears that these fares will earn, miles on DL even if booked via priceline, as reported by cataclysmicvoid.
1.1. For 006 ticket with flight operated by AZ probably not. See this post. Please report back your experience.
  2. Alaska: No on AZ segments. No on most AF/KL segments because of the fare code. No on DL segments if not booked on 006 stock. No on DL if booked into O class. Yes on DL segments if you have a 006 ticket stock.
  3. KLM: Yes (will be at 50% or 25% depending on the exact fare booked)
  4. Air France: Yes (will be at 50% or 25% depending on the exact fare booked)
  5. Alitalia: Yes (will be at 50% depending on the exact fare booked)

More generally, these very cheap fares will typically not earn full miles. In some ways, AZ may be a good program to earn to as it appears many of the AF and KL flights that would earn 25% into their programs will earn 50% into AZ. It seems that most people departing from JFK are booked in O class which may not have much earning. Some people departing from LAX have V or other classes which do have earning benefits. The most earning will probably occur on an 057 (AF) or 074 (KL) ticketed and operated flight, credited to AS, if and only if the fare class is one of those listed as eligible on the Alaska earning website.

Huh????
AZ flights are fully available to credit to DL. O class is listed as Econ and 100% credit.

As I mentioned we have a different booking out of Rome on miles with UA.

Our flight is in a couple days. Just want to see if anyone has run into issues at JFK with similar plans for Europe travels. Thank you!

From experience, if the agent sees any China dest in the Comp they want to see a visa. Period. So I would check in online and try to avoid human interaction.

Or just get a china visa. Now is the time anyways with the new 10 year. lol. The new 10 year might have a limited period where they are handed out.

You are correct. I flew AZ LAX-FCO on AZ stock. Fare class was "O". Credited 100% to Delta. Miles posted the day after the trip. I did put my Delta # in at the time of booking, (Orbitz) but it was not there when I checked in, so I had them add it manually.

That is probably not going to happen by the end of the week. Is it worth seeing if we can cancel the second leg of the trip that we will not be taking? Would that not cancel the first leg out of JFK?

Has anyone else run into this issue where they have flown with this deal and decided not to continue on and stay in Europe?

If you have enough miles (or status) to book a refundable one way from PVG to another country within 3 days you could use it to say you are going for the 72 hour transit visa on arrival.

Then cancel once you arrive in europe.

I don't think they'll ask for the visa. You're flying to MXP, not to China that week. Just tell them you're planning to pick up your visa at the Chinese embassy in Italy.

HGHUA and danielm:

Thank you for your feedback. We have enough time at the airport that if we run into issues we can book a refundable one way out of PVG. Otherwise I will explain our situation and tell them we are planning on getting a visa at the Chinese embassy in Italy.

I have a similar question as Sakino, but instead of dropping from PRG to PVG it's PRG to BKK. The Department of State website says Americans don't need a visa if carrying an onward ticket from Thailand.

Since I'll be going back home from MXP, I wouldn't have that onward ticket from BKK. Would anyone at JFK give me trouble?

If you have avios, a one way ticket to hongkong on dragonair will work. If no avios, maybe cheap air asia ticket would work as insurance. they may have a sale on now.

We just got back from our trip. Our original itin to Europe was:
JFK>VCE>FCO>MXP

As you can see that's a big hot mess. So, when there was a time schedule change in early August, I quickly called Delta and received JFK>MXP direct flight.

In November, when I went to check in for my flight at the airport, they said they only saw half my ticket JFK>MXP. The Delta check-in agent called someone on the phone at Delta and after 20 minutes they had a single Delta ticket JFK>MXP, PRG>NRT. Before, I would have to log into Air France and put my electronic ticket number in to view my ticket for PRG>NRT.

I credited my miles to Air France and I received:
JFK>MXP 1,003 miles
PRG>AMS 375 miles
AMS>NRT 1,502 miles

[FARE GONE] RTW for about $950; Alitalia Europe/asia combo deal

Trying to finish off this trip. Stranded in Chicago. Picked the only day of the year where my city received 5-7 FEET of snow. Great.

fwiw, my PRG AMS flight credited to AS just fine. The others didn't like I expected. I will contact AS and see what they can do if anything since my AMS-NRT leg was M class on KLM.. Or so said my boarding pass.

Americans don't need to get a visa beforehand to go to Thailand. The only time I got one was decades ago when I first went. Even back then, they told me I didn't need to have done that at immigration. Every other time, I just show up. The visas are granted on arrival. Many Americans have lived for years in Thailand on tourist visas by going to the border and turning around once every month. To cut down on that, the Thais have made land border visas only 14 days now instead of 30.

I agree. Get them while you can. There used to be 5 year and 2 year visas and both became very hard to get as time went on. Does anyone know if it's a true 10 years or only until your passport expires. So if you passport expires in 5 years then it's only 5 years. Some countries will allow you to use a visa in your old passport with your new passport if the visa is still valid.
