Price went actually up. New FBC is ~$1000 higher than it used to be. Glad I snapped one of this before too late!

Thanks that helped. Thought ITA still won't show an F price, I guess because there is no F out of CMB on my routing.

I think EK has F CMB-DXB, but you can't use EK, contrary to what the fare rules say. That is one thing that really annoys me is that the fare rules specifically mention EK, but any attempt to use EK breaks the fare.

You are absolutely correct. Unfortunately, I never search for purely Business class fares, so I was unaware that you could use EK for Business. I generally only look for A/F fares

Apologies,
Eric

The ability to book EK on the first class fare was removed months ago.

Actually, you could book into EK First right up until the last day of the fare. You had to book the QF codeshare on an EK flight. Worked perfectly. I still have an AOWISC ticket with a EK segment (in F) on it. Oh yeah, that QF codeshare gave full AA EQM/EQP.

You are all incorrect. AA removed the A fare or - better - a new FBC priced at $2,700 o/w has been added. EK flights can be booked as QF codeshare. I booked a ex-CMB fare in March, but since then the fare is gone. Anyone with access to Sabre can confirm it.

So what would be now the most ideal route to take full advantage of this fare?

http://matrix.itasoftware.com/ you tell me
I don't think people are going to be very helpful now that the good routings are gone.

Yeah. I never mentioned anything when I tried to issue a 15 segment ticket !
EK cannot be used, and neither can you use SQ.

As with all MR fares, I agree with izzik , talk about it too much and it will be gone. Trouble with forums like these. oh well, it was fun (of a nightmare) trying to book and issue a couple of these that exceeded 10 segments!

CMB

It might just be better to close the thread. Constant conversation about variations that no longer work just keep bringing to light irregularities in the tariffs that might at some time come back if they aren't shouted out.

Again EK can be used booked as a QF codeshare. You will unfortunately have to pay the QF YQ on the leg, which raises the fare yet another couple hundred dollars. I flew one of these a few months ago -- ticketed day of departure on Travelocity. It was booked as:

(1) CMB-DOH on QR J
(2) DOH-DXB on QR F (in a 788)
(3) DXB-LHR on EK (EK7) booked as QF8007 in F
(4) LHR-SFO on BA (BA286) booked as an AA codeshare in F
