Do you think UA some may reinstate a nonstop flight between JFK and ORD it did fly this route a one time. CO pulled all JFK sevice probably because it's strong dominance of International flights from EWR. UA only flies to IAD, LAX, and SFO from JFK.

Gah! I managed to ticket this through Priceline, but through either my fault or theirs (for pure catharsis, I'll blame them), the ticket returned with my last name missing and my middle one in its place.

I called the agency, which told me I could either cancel and rebook or let them send a message to UA asking the airline to make the change, but that the latter would be at the airline's discretion. Since UA had already pulled the fare from its own site, I've recently sent a few compensation requests to the airline, and a UA rep actually (and somewhat wryly) noted that fact in one of the replies, I decided to let it pass and instead cancel and rebook. By the time I went back, the fare was truly gone.

I suppose I could have held out longer, but I didn't have any great desire or need to head to Chicago, and begging/fighting an agency and my preferred airline seemed in poor form. Still, I'm curious how the error happened, since all my confirmation information, less the actual "Passenger's Name" box, had my last name noted correctly. Oh, well.

I just saw this thread and sort of chuckled. It was funny because at about 1:25pm ET today while working I got a message from our senior NYC specialist who sent a message to all of our RM pricing group and said UA filed this fare. We all got a good laugh out of it and attributed it to a new analyst I believe the analyst meant to enter a $100 one way fare as that seems competitive in the market but they forgot a zero

Anyhow, it amazes me how quickly these things get caught by FTers. And to answer the question of how this error happened, I would say that it is very hard for this to happen (at least at DL) since there are so many safeguards in place and low fare rejects for something this low BUT if someone was rushing to get a fare in, they may ignore that and just keep clicking it through to distribute the fare. Just seems quite amazing that someone would do this though as the pricing analyst role is very detail oriented and this is what happens when you don't pay attention to detail

Wow, managed to snag one

Taking my wife for dinner, drinks and sights. 09/08-09/09. Should we start a separate thread for meet ups at ORD, IAD, and JFK, maybe have a DO... Just a thought.

Good luck to those of you who were quick enough to get this ticketed.

I've moved the thread to 'fare gone' status in Mileage Run Discussion.
