Me neither. I've always used matrix.itasoftware.com, and was none the wiser. I've always been happy with what I've used, but apparently matrix1 was even better. Wish I had seen it.

I've been using hipmunk now over the new matrix - it accepts code in a similar to matrix1, and just seems to be easier to use than matrix2. The results are a bit more basic than what matrix shows, but is pretty good at showing itineraries that are actually available to book.

A true tradgedy- Matrix1 was great at maximizing connections using some of the more complex tricks- Used it nearly daily it seemed.

Hope google reconsiders- I'd be happy in its most recent form- just bring back that UI.

I just received a response (!) to the email I sent earlier today:
Wow - I had just assumed it was an unmonitored mailbox and my comments went the same place they seem to go when I write to United. Nice job (so far), Google/ITA. Now just allow results to be opened in new tabs and we'll be good to go

I never used Matrix1, but Matrix is not all it is cracked up to be. Kayak found me a business class fare from US to Australia that had a complex routing but that was $4,000 cheaper than anything I could find on Matrix (even when I prompt it with the connecting cities).

ok..as someone who mostly used Matrix1, can the surviving product also do something similar to the old "search w/I 300 miles"?
I know the newer Matrix offers nearby airport options but they all seem to be rather limited in scope.

Haven't used matrix1, but the current matrix gives you a pop-up to select airports within 25-300 miles of a given location and then you select all or which ones of them you want to use as a source or destination. In what way is that limited in scope?
What annoys me is that if it can't find anything that satisfies the criteria I select, such as class of service or alliance, it just ignores it.

Though I haven't recently used the current matrix, I have used it to filter alliances or input routing language to specify an operating carrier (such as o:ua). iirc, there is also a class selection drop down menu but I've never used that.
Are you saying none of those work?

This is a real issue for me. Very annoying and time consuming when requesting premium fares & getting cheapest Y fares included in the list. Pretty soon Google will just make it into another travelocity.
