AA: SFO-SSA (Salvador, Brazil) ... $685 a.i.

Came upon this one while poking around AA.com.
I didn't try any other combos or cities, but this seems like a pretty good EOY run for those who are close.

Can be routed SFO-BOS-MIA-SSA ... SSA-REC (Recife)-MIA-BOS-SFO
Around 16000 eqm, a little over 4 cpm

Outbound good from 11/24 - 12/31 and 2/1 - 5/28
3 day min (but it is Salvador. ^)

Return good 11/27 - 12/11 and 1/19 - 5/31

Don't forget the double miles

There is a promotion to these cities that provides double miles:
BRZ2X

Friendly reminder that American Citizens need a visa to visit Brazil! Other than that, I've heard great things about Salvador!

watch out for Qs

just a note to explats or others with evip's -- at least some of these are Q fares, not upgradeable on mia-ssa or rec-mia

You can buy up to an upgradeable N fare for $100 roundtrip, making your total all-in fare about $785.

It would appear that way.
The bonus is based on the actual miles

So, an upper elite would get around 48000 RDM if well routed, or around 1.4 cpm
All in all, not a bad run for someone who needs the push to the next level.

Are you sure "thru/non-stop flights" includes all connections on your itinerary? I interpret "thru" to be "direct" flights where the flight number continues on after the connection. I could be completely off on this since I have not reviewed the flight schedules to see if there are any flights continuing on from MIA to SSA.

My read of the promotion is the double miles is on the MIA-SSA portion, so a total of 3800 bonus miles each way.

So SFO-SSA with a good routing could earn
16,000 base miles
16,000 Plat / Exp
7600 Bonus
-----
40,000 miles

Did my search on the site.

How do you buy an upgradeable class on AA.com? They only show the Q class and then will be expensive L class.

Call AA reservations and tell them you would like to buy up to the next fare which is upgradeable. Put your itinerary on hold first and then call. I think it will be the "N" fare in this case.
