United...$236, 0 Miles, 14,380 EQM, 20 EQS

So united is offering $75 voucher for 5,000 miles. And they are some pretty good fares NYC to CHI and there is the 1/2/3 25k miles thing. SO....This requires you take 10 RT's and you get an extra miles if your elite. But 10 Trips to Chicago for only $236? what a deal! This was the best i could find at a net cost 2500 miles and $25 for 1438 EQM or 1000 miles and $25 if your elite. Click here for a formated table.

So, as someone who doesn't know UA too well, does this require you to be a MP member?

YES you will

As for as the 1/2/3 bonus, it will only give you a max of 25000 for three flights, where are you getting that you get 5000 per flight?

You need the 5,000 miles to get ball rolling. BUt you do get double miles on your first flight as a new member plus the 5000 bonus 1/2/3. So you could pay the $100 for the first round trip and you'd get...hmm 1400*2+1000+5000. 8400 miles for that. Enough to get the ball rolling..

I might be the dense, but does the 10 trips = $236 all in with the use of the $75 certs per trip? If so not bad, if not this went way over my head.

I'm not getting this either. I don't understand how everything gets you to the $236 for 10 trips.

I think this would make the most sense if you only do it three times, no? After the third, your mileage earning goes WAY down.

Took a while to deconstruct this myself --

Seems he's using ORD-EWA @ 719 mi, & a fare of $98.60 (see TVLCTY)
Sooo -- $98.60 - $75 = $23.60 per trip -- x10.

Taken to an illogical extreme, if you start with a stash of 23,554mi, you hit 25k EQM at 17-1/2 trips, and spend $424.80.

FWIW: 15 trips will set you back $354.

EDIT: without the 1-2-3 bonii, you'd need 48.554 to start. Now you know

Ok, I think I figured it out...
You need to either be a new miles plus member or a Premier Exec or 1k with double RDM miles. You then redeem 5000 miles for a $75 cert and buy a round trip to NYC which can be done for $98.60. With the cert applied you will get the ticket in theory for $23.60 and 5000 RDM. For a RT to LGA you should get 1466 EQM and with the online booking bonus 3932 RDM. I might give this a try just for the heck of it.

Thanks for the explanation!^ If I had not already maxed out the offer, I would be in for this!

A note of caution - I recently booked a $97.10 fare LAX-LAS RT and had difficulty applying a $75 e-cert since the base fare was less than $75 ($72.56 I believe). After quite a while on the phone with web support, I was able to apply my e-cert to the entire base fare but it was a bit of a hassle. So I only got $72.56 off of the e-cert rather than $75.

But 5/10/25 T&C says you can only get the bonus once...

T&C (with link to FAQ on the same page) for the $25 and $75 certs, in case anyone needs it (from the united page)!

Yeah, it looks like the $75 cert on these fares knocks off only about $25 or so. However these certs seem to work pretty well on some west coast runs and you can do an ORD-SAN run for about $160 and get about 4100 EQM or so.
