Upgraded? PLEASE tell me you were upgraded for at least two of those 4 transatlantic legs. Otherwise... OW. I love flying but even I couldn't handle the physical pain of not sleeping flat for three or four nights.

Besides what does that have to do with your earlier statement regarding the need to cancel the tickets?

The harm is $500. What I am saying is that if you want 1K, you could cancel two of the four tickets since two of them would be doubled.

Still some aspirin always helps.

Unfortunatly, aspirin doesn't help. And age is not relevant as a risk factor. A 29year old scuba diver died from DVT as have many other healthy young athletes.

The only way to combat DVT is to stay hydrated during your flight and to get up for a walk every hour or so. More info at AirHealth.org

OK - I see.

Being friends with lucky is very bad for my bank account...he talked me into 1K as well (but I needed way fewer miles and much less convincing.)

Less convincing? It wasn't that hard.

It was expensive...

I just wish I could have one more trip for work this year!

(Man, I can't believe I just said that!)

That's not fair! ;) Depends which bank account we are talking about. Your mileage bank account sure is going up! :D

Does this mean I should not meet Lucky ;). I'm trying to construct a 4000 mile MR right now and I'll be able to make 1k lite. otherwise I'm not going to bite for the $500 dollars as I have no plans to fly next year right now after my MR in Jan for 80k miles :D

KIX-SIN-BKK-SIN-CMB-SIN-HKG-ICN-JFK-SFO-LAX-SFO-JFK-ICN-HKG-SIN-CMB-SIN-BKK-SIN-KIX-SFO-LAX All in 2 weeks mostly in F and some in Y

it totals to 47578 on GCM, but after bonuses and etc.. I'm netting over 80k miles if I calculated correctly

Wow, and this is a "mileage run?" I assume you got a good price?

Good luck on your first mileage run tonight, Matt! ^ Let us know how it goes!

Wow. What an itinerary. However, I find it interesting that you are undertaking such a trip when you have no plans to fly next year after that. I assume you are doing it for the miles more than the status? Just curious (and amazed). :)

This was before flat (even inclined flat) beds. I was flying on C class tickets and one of the overnight flights (I think it was the second one) was upgraded to F. It was EWR-LHR Wednesday night, two hour meeting in London Thursday morning, LHR-EWR Thursday mid-day, two hour meeting in NY Thursday afternoon, EWR-LHR Thursday night (same flight as the day before), work all day Friday in London, then LHR-SFO Saturday.

You've got my VNO-TXL-FRA-SIN-CMB-SIN-ICN-LAX-SFO-SAN-SFO-LAX-ICN-SIN-CMB-SIN-NRT-HNL speedrun beat by 5 segments and 7131 miles, though at least you're doing your run at a leisurely pace. Mine was one week. Fortunately, mine was also mostly in F, with a few C segments and Y only for VNO-TXL-FRA.
