TP : ex NYC/BOS to Europe $130 USD OW in Y

Longish post folks. This fare might be for you if you're interested in positioning yourself to Europe to take advantage of the awfully cheap fares ex-Europe (i.e. $300 USD roundtrips on UA from LHR)

EWR to OSL from $132 USD:
https://www.google.com/flights?lite=0#flt=/m/02_286,BOS,IAD,ORD.ARN,/m/01lfy,/m/05l64,CDG,/m/0k3p.2019-03-24.EWRLIS0TP202~LISOSL1TP762;c:USD;e:1;sd:1;t:b;tt ;sp:2.USD.13120

EWR to CPH from $132 USD:
https://www.google.com/flights?lite=0#flt=/m/02_286,BOS,IAD,ORD.ARN,/m/01lfy,/m/05l64,CDG,/m/0k3p.2019-04-09.EWRLIS0TP202~LISCPH1TP754;c:USD;e:1;sd:1;t:b;tt ;sp:2.USD.13120

BOS to AMS from $145 USD:
https://www.google.com/flights?lite=0#flt=/m/02_286,BOS,IAD,ORD.ARN,/m/01lfy,/m/05l64,CDG,/m/0k3p.2019-03-17.BOSLIS0TP218~LISAMS1TP674;c:USD;e:1;sd:1;t:b;tt ;sp:2.USD.14420

BOS to CPH from $182 USD:
https://www.google.com/flights?lite=0#flt=/m/02_286,BOS,IAD,ORD.ARN,/m/01lfy,/m/05l64,CDG,/m/0k3p.2019-05-19.BOSLIS0TP218~LISCPH1TP754;c:USD;e:1;a:STAR_ALLI ANCE;sd:1;t:b;tt;sp:2.USD.18120

Availability is pretty wide open from now thru June. Can't comment on the quality of TP service. I suspect this is not an Economy Basic fare so you should have baggage allowance, lounge access and all the rest if you're a *Gold. In addition, there may be milage accrual but I can't be bothered putting my glasses on cause it's so early in the morning. I suspect this is an Outstanding Deal and is why I'm posting it outside the Great Deals thread.

Safe Travels,

James

No baggage allowance on their cheapest fares. *G bag allowance is also not guaranteed. Standard 1+1 carry-on policy (they may weigh the carry-on if checking in at the counter). You do get lounge access and fast track security (if applicable)

This also works from Miami (I'm sure) and Canadian eastern cities (I think); round trips from all cities are good until either June 6 or June 13. Carry-ons allowed, but yes no checked bags. Given summer fares to Europe from $270 - $450 r/t I agree that this is an outstanding deal.

Also: base fares are as low as $12, with YQ making up the rest. So if you are good at losing fuel charges somehow...

More cities:

ORD -> AMS : $184 USD OW

Wide availability in Jul - Dec 2019.

SFO -> AMS $280 USD OW

Decent availability in Jul - Dec 2019 (albeit not as attractive a price as ORD)

IAD -> AMS - $184 USD OW:

There are tons more deals out there from TP in Y on OW. Basically pick a destination in Canada (YYZ) or the US (IAD,ORD,MCO,NYC,SFO,BOS) and a city TP flies in Europe (i.e. AMS, BCN, CPH,CPH) and there's a decent chance you'll find a sub $200 USD OW fare.

Safe Travels,

James

Any experience in exiting in Lisbon and blowing off the connection flight? Prices to Lisbon are not in this range.

No experience, but on a one way and no FF to worry about, I can't see any reason why a hidden city routing would cause any problems.

This is a really good deal because availability is wide open during high season including almost all of June and August from JFK. The same flights were selling for ~$800 from JFK yesterday before the price drop today. Cheapest fare I could find is JFK-LIS-MAD at $115.

O class gets some miles in various programs. But don't get dissuaded by this, you can book this fare in various fare classes online <$200 with checked bag, by clicking through to Expedia from GF. You can probably do the same on the TP site.

Even if you aren't getting RDM on United will the PQM's come over? That's all I care about. PQM's.

Also, do not forget you can bid for business class upgrades on TAP. And upgrades can be (are) sector-by-sector.

I flew one of these fares about two weeks ago, EWR-OPO-LGW. I bid the lowest amount on EWR-OPO and got the upgrade. Best part was that upgraded flights now received full mileage credit, in my case 125% on UA MP. I also got the credit for the non-upgraded OPO-LGW for some reason. Overall, my airfare was $170 + $470, not a bad deal for when I needed a good night sleep on the way back to Europe.

The cheapest fares (cited above) book into O class which earns 0% PQM and RDM. However, it's possible to pay $30-$50 more OW to get a fare which will earn valuable PQM. In addition, not everyone cares about earning PQMs on such flights if the end goal is to position yourself to a UA HUB like, say, LHR where you can purchase a ton of K fares and do a bunch of MRs ex-Europe to get off the PQM treadmill early this year.
