Happy 2019!

Please use this thread to post or to follow Economy Fares which are 'Good Deals' but where the cost per mile is more than 3-4 cents per mile, which is the usual upper limit for what is considered a true 'MR Deal'.

A few requests for posting in the thread:
  • When posting 'Good deals' fares: please post the city pairs/airport codes and pricing in the body of the post and not just in the post title as it isn't visible for those reading it on mobile devices.
  • Note that you can subscribe to this thread: go to "Thread Tools" at the top of the thread and click on "Subscribe to this thread".
  • This is not a fare request thread. Any fare requests will be deleted.
  • This is not a how to book a fare thread.

Trying to get out of parts of Florida during spring break season can be pricey since so many people are trying to get into the state at that time. So $524 for PNS/VPS/ECP to JER on American/BA from $524 (sample dates March 15-22) is as low as it generally gets time of year. You can also terminate in London instead of Jersey from $584 on AA/BA or on Delta from about $700 if you're a Sky Teamer

(I believe) this is a decent fare.

RDU-SEA r/t in the $170s for DL in Basic Economy. Earns 4708 MQMs for 3.6 cpm. Main cabin is $230s for 4.9 cpm.

There are same day turnarounds, including on weekends on Feb 2, 3, 9. Also flexibility to stay for 1 or more nights. See lots of dates from Jan 28 to mid March. Bookable on DL.

Similar AS Saver fares seen.

TP : JFK -> FRA for $371 USD

Spotted on flights:

https://www.google.com/flights?lite=...93*2.EUR.32093

Limited availability in 2019 - can't comment on milage earning as I'm unfamiliar with TP but suspect it'll be better than Economy Basic on UA/LH/AC. Not strictly a milage run per definition but a pretty good deal nevertheless.

In searching a OW from NYC-FLL, Google Flights returned flights to Frankfurt and up pops a OW next Tuesday 1/22 for $132. That's $13 cheaper than the Delta fare to Ft. Lauderdale I was looking for. Crazy! Not an expert on Mileage Pus, but it doesn't appear these fares (This was an O, with T fares also available for $50 more) earn either redeemable or PQMs. Could be useful for positioning.

UA/AM : NYC -> MEX - $250 USD roundtrip

Spotted on flights - for UA:
https://www.google.com/flights?lite=...49*2.GBP.19249

Spotted on flights for AM:
https://www.google.com/flights?lite=...49*2.GBP.19249

Should earn 100% PQM on UA since it's a normal economy ticket (i.e. not Basic). I believe this route is also eligible for CPUs? Also as a UA Gold you'll have access to all * lounges including UCs since it's an INTL itinerary. N.B. UA is currently running a milage bonus promotion on flights from EWR to MEX where you'll earn 5x bonus miles:

Safe Travels,

James

I was just about to post this myself. Deal is still active for a few weekdays and weekends in February.

Luckily, I was able to book $230 main cabin with JFK as a next day return connection, came out to ~4.4cpm. I purchased last December for a weekend in February, and at the time I even saw same/next day round trips with JFK connections on both legs, priced under $200 basic economy or around $250 main cabin. Unfortunately I was unable to fly on those days.

RDU is my home airport and DL is my preferred airline. I setup an alert for future RDU/SEA round trips, as I am hoping DL has regular deals for this route often. Seems ideal for quick mileage runs!

Update Edit (1/21/19) : I ran another search just now and found RDU-JFK-SEA-JFK-RDU for a select few week days in late February for mostly same/next day round trip travel. Comes out to $188 or 3.2cpm (Basic) and 4.2 cpm (Main) and 5,842 MQM and 4 MQS

QR: IAD-SEZ(Mahe, Seychelles!!)-IAD $708 RT wow

Looks like it earns 50% EQMs and 25% RDMs on AA, meaning about a 7.8 cent cost per EQM and making that a bit too high to get excited about for an MR (but I think you'd be crazy to do an MR to a premier destination like that!) Lots of dates available up and down the schedule.

I went to the Seychelles back in 2015 and spent 10 total days between Mahe, Praslin and La Digue. Really wonderful...you've got maybe a third of the world's top 10 beaches, creole cuisine, and an island (La Digue) where you can use bikes for getting around. Also various nature preserves like nowhere else. Can't recommend it enough.

BTW, I booked my 2015 trip as part of the great Etihad mistake-fare sale of Christmas 2014 and it was JFK-SEZ-JFK at $616, so this one's not too far off of that incredible deal. On that same sale I also did IAD-MNL-IAD at $344 RT and ORD-AUH-ORD at $208, so SEZ was one of the "pricier" spots to get to relative to the sale but was expensive and a real bear to get to otherwise.

Vancouver - Grand Praire CAD 86

Air North is flying a one-off Grand Prairie YQU - Vancouver YVR (Feb 8) and Vancouver - Grand Prairie (Feb 10) rotation.

The tickets are super cheap: CAD 108 and CAD 86 respectively. That includes 2 pieces of checked luggage!

Book at flyairnorth.com

Air North is a pretty good airline with comfortable seat pitch. No miles to be earned.

It's really amazing to see such deals here. I am glad this thread is moving a bit, because everything seems to be focused towards the Premium Fare Deals these days. I've had some of my best fares and best trips from here, in Economy, including a memorable Alitalia outing to Abu Dhabi for something around the 100 Euro mark. Another was a trip to the East Coast USA (WAS and NYC) which was incredibly cheap because of making an open jaw which began (or ended, can't quite remember) in Brussels. All in Economy, and pretty good flights too!

Interesting Transalpine fare, between Munich (MUC) and Bergamo (BGY). this latter masquerading as Milan's third airport. The €120 round trip fare is all inclusive, with baggage and catering in the ticket price, and is on an Embraer 135 with the airline bmi Regional. For the 120 Euros price, flights must be booked with Lufthansa codeshare numbers, which will yield no miles or segments in Miles & More. Example dates from October, but fare seemed available in March, April and May if needed:

A small deal spotted on Flights: AA PHL-MIA for $81 r/t in Feb. It's basic economy so the cpm is bad, but for a flight out of the winter including a carry-on that's not a bad trip.
