UA: SFO-EWR-OSL RT $517 AI in OCT 12,254 BASE

Found on ITA while looking for OW flights: all UA metal for $517 K RT fare (DDE) but earns 100% = 12,254 base/.044; sample 10/22-27. Slightly higher @$548 for SFO-EWR-OSL-FRA-EWR-SFO=13,046/.041 base. Fairly decent connect times.

Looked like several options in SEP-OCT period but did not research much as UA, not AA.

Is that OSL-FRA leg on LH K fare? Don't think that earns on UA.

You can also do this all UA, and route via LAX, for a few more miles.

Dates I saw are Oct 24 -> Oct 27. Comes out to 4.0cpm.

Kinda tempted, but the two nights of hotel in OSL are gonna be expensive.

On my last run the transatlantic flight was delayed, making me miss my LH K flight. I got rebooked in Y.

If you choose 10/24-10/27, you can do SFO-LAX-EWR-OSL-EWR-IAH-SFO for $523 all on UA. Ends up being 4.0 cpm.

This is a common problem for Scandinavian runs,
but if you have/can get some Choice points,
there are lots of hotels in OSL for 16K/night.

Is it possible to have a layover in FRA for a couple days? or do i have to catch the flight from FRA to EWR right away?

Also, if you know someone who works for carlson hotels, the friends and family rates are the same in OSL as the rest of the world (~$80) and includes full breakfast.

Iceland Air also runs a 757 DEN-KEF. Glad I don't have to endure that one!

We flew MVD-PTY on Copa's 737 last fall. In theory, it's an 8 hour flight. But when you can't land at PTY and divert to a nearby airport, and then sit on the plan for another 4 hours.... well, things can get ugly.

These Jeffy Jets are probably OK much of the time, but you really don't want to be on one during IRROPS.

(And yes, I flew EWR-OSL and ARN-EWR on a Jeffy Jet a couple weeks ago.)
