See @GrizShel #1207 here?

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/milea...rs-2013-a.html

But if the MP miles are worth the extra $119, go for it.

Thanks! booked 2 back to back turnarounds dec 13&14, both booked as one way so only need to use 1 RPU per trip. Had 2 RPUs expiring 1/31/14 anyways. All upgrades but one cleared right away, and with 6/6 seats open I'm pretty sure that one will clear well before t-24.

bwi-iah-las-ewr-bwi (4 hour lunch/maybe shower) bwi-ewr-ord-las-ewr-bwi

a couple of under 1hr connections, but shouldn't be too bad *knocks on wood*. Quite a few 739s so should be able to keep my laptop and phone charged

used the 5% veterans discount code and got it down to $452.79/10644pqm = 4.25c/pqm

12/13 226.60 5184pqm = 4.37c/pqm
12/14 226.19 5460pqm = 4.14c/pqm

pretty good for end of year 1K re-up. I was hoping I wouldn't need to take a pricey hnl or P fare to SJU. with any luck I'll only have to pay 2 days parking too.

I'd definitely pay an extra $126 not to fly ATA and to requal for 1K

10,644 miles over 8 domestic segments in 2 days - that's a bona fide mileage run. If I were on a UA status brink, I'd probably relent and Priceline a four-star $70 Vegas hotel room and enjoy two or three reasonably-priced great meals, perhaps including the buffet at the Wynn or Caesar's Palace. (Speaking of mileage run eats, if you ever MR to SAN, book a ~3 hour layover and head to C Level/Island Prime overlooking the harbor. It's a 4 minute cab ride or 15 minute walk from the airport, with great seafood and an even better view.)

If you really luck out, your RPU will clear on the return *and* you'll score a coveted BF-configured 752 on the LAS-EWR segment - which is possible out of EWR - in which case you'll wish the pilot flew around for a couple extra hours so you can get a full night's sleep!

How do you book a BWI-LAS-BWI trip as a one way trip?

You use round-trip (or multi-city) search but make sure you don't stop anywhere for more than four hours. If you stay for over four hours, .bomb sees a break and prices accordingly, both for faring and upgrade purposes.

also helps to not hit the same airport on your return. i did a iad-sfo-bur-sfo-iad with no layover longer than 2.5 hours and it split down to 2 trips iad-bur and bur-iad. had I gone iad-lax-bur-sfo-iad it probably would have booked as a single trip.

you can also tell once you're ticketed if all of your flights show up in one group and you're itinerary is "BWI-BWI". then go to "redeem upgrade" and it should let you use one rpu (or 20k miles) for all flights.

If it doesn't work you've got 24 hours to cancel anyways. just don't cancel after you use your rpu, pretty sure you don't get it back.

I was looking for lie-flat seats, didn't see any though. I did make sure to get on 752s iah-las and the 1st las-ewr. wasn't available on Saturday, though I am on all 739s that day besides the q400 bwi-ewr and *sigh* q200 ewr-bwi.
Hopefully I won't be on any of the brand new equipment where they forgot/opted out of power plugs and entertainment systems, but did get the satellite wifi (which goes out every 10-15 minutes)
I guess the upside to those 739s is not having to hear $misek talking about changes I'll like.

Anyone managed to get it to work in reverse? I gave it a try but no success.

Fooling with various possibilities from AUS or SAT on the same days... (excluding connecting cities) AUS-BWI-LAS-BWI-LAS-AUS for ~10k miles @ $490-$517 or 4.6-4.9 CPM.

Will only offer LAS-CLE-BWI on return. Could be made longer by going AUS-EWR-BWI (versus AUS-ORD-BWI), but it's 43 minute connection 739 --> Q400 in EWR. Not appealing.

Not the best, I know, but MRs from Texas can be hard! Aiming for just over 10k here, which is what I need.
