Hubby, daughter and I are traveling to Ypsilanti in a few weeks for one of Eastern Michigan University's college tours. Can anyone recommend a nice Italian restaurant for lunch that isn't too expensive (i.e. no more than $60 for the entire bill and we don't drink alcohol)?
I love Palm Palace for mediteranean type food about four miles west on Carpenter Road off Washtenaw.
If you REALLY want pure Italian food probably your best bet is Paesano's on Washtenaw right after Arborland Mall.

I've only been to Two James for a single drink, so have some work to do. apparently the had consulting from Makers Mark on startup.
Also excited to try the place that is coming to the GAR castle. http://gardetroit.org

Going to New Buffalo for a bachelor party over a long weekend in September. I anticipate eating roughly 90% of our meals at Redamak's, but we want to do a nice sit-down dinner on one of the night. Anyone have any recommendations? We're staying right around the corner from the harbor, so anything walkable from there is a plus.

Friends and I ate at Selden Standard in midtown this weekend. The Free Press named it their 2015 restaurant of the year, and I won't disagree. The menu is creative and everything we had tasted great! Service was excellent, and my only minor complaint is that the seating could be more comfortable.

Long considered one of the best restaurants in the Detroit area, The Lark announced last week that it will be closing in December. After 30+ years, the owners have decided to retire.

Downtown Ferndale has a new vegan restaurant called Greenspace Cafe. I ate there Friday night, and it was really good. The menu has a nice variety of choices, with options that are also gluten free and/or soy free. Everything we ordered was delicious. Their wine by the glass is on the expensive side, but small plates and entrees are very reasonable. Cool space too.

With all the new restaurants in Detroit, I think this thread needs to be revived.
I had Sunday brunch with friends recently at Parks and Rec in the GAR building Except for a wait time of about 45 minutes, it was great. Friendly service and delicious food. If you go, the lemon meringue french toast is outstanding.
