I've been a big fan of Jerry's since I found out about it. Imagine my surprise when I ordered my favorite sandwich and a homemade cookie (they looked particularly good today) to go, expecting to pay $9.00 and the price was $10.25! If I had stayed in and had a drink, I'd have paid at least $11.75. That's a little steep for a sandwich at a place where you stand in line to order. Granted the sandwiches are great, and you get an unmemorable small side, but the new $8.75 price has to qualify as a rip off when you can get virtually any sandwich and home-made chips next door at Beer Bistro for less (and even a $2 burger on Tuesdays) and get waited on and watch sports on HD on several screens. It's not like the $7.50 previous price was exactly a deal.

Give this place Schmaltz in Naperville (Naper/Ogden) a try. Vigorously endorsed by my barber.
PS
Obama went to Manny's today. Per the article, he mentions he got corned beef. Several times.

again ? (see post #46) Do you work for Manny's ?
Tell your barber he was right.
Recently the mother of a Jewish buddy of mine passed away, she lived in Naperville, at the condolence meal/gettogether after the funeral, Schmaltz deli products were served, pastrami, corned beef, ruggelah, chopped chicken liver. Great stuff, got the big thumbs up from the contingent of NYC Jews (tough deli crowd) who were dining like there was no tomorrow.

As a new resident of Chicago, I'll agree with what everyone is saying. Manny's is tops.
Whoever bumped this thread, thank you. I now have more delis to check out, and a reason to tell the Mrs that we're going to Skokie.
