power outlets at ORD?

A friend who is lounge-less wants to know where he can plug in his laptop.

There are often outlets here and there, on the exterior walls, near the banks of telephones, set into the floor. The airline check-in staff at the gates are apt to know where they are.

I noticed recently in United's terminal, that many of the outlets are taped over. Not sure if that if United's doing or the city's or what that means... perhaps United is trying to save money on the electric bill or trying to avoid paying for somebody's laptop if they catch a power power spike through a bad outlet. In any event, it appears that using one of those outlets is pretty much at your own risk and a United GA could ask you to unplug.

There was an article a few weeks back about a woman who plugged her phone in to an outlet on a CTA train. Perhaps the city decided after that to block off any open outlets that were sitting around.

UA Terminal Power Outlets

The only FOUR working power outlets in Councourse B and C at ORD are located at each end, where the large departures and arrivals boards are. There are two in the floor at each end in front of two chairs. That is it, in my experience (and I transit ORD a good deal).

All the outlets under the unused gate counters are not powered. I've tried. I can't speak for the ones under the used counters, but darned if one of these days I'm not gonna try.

I've tried the handful along the walls where the bathrooms and lounges are, and no dice there, either (not to mention I don't want to sit on the floor in those areas).

The outlets in the interconnect between Terminal One and Terminal Two are also non-functional.

Concourse F does have working outlets in the floor, surprise surprise, so if I am catching a UAX flight or have a long layover, I run out to there. The Cinnabon in Councourse F also has working power, so I can try and get a quick recharge of my laptop's battery while I recharge my personal battery with a cinnabon and mochalottachill.

Wow. Being based at ORD (arriving very shortly before flights and not sticking around long after arrivals) I never knew it was that bad there. Maybe it's a ploy to get us to join RCC!

I've seen a few more around the AA gates @ ORD. I remember seeing them on the left side (if facing the tarmac) in several gate areas.
